[Bucky has been doing some reading. Quite a lot of reading, about New York, and how it;s changed over the years he's missed, what's gone on -- well, as much as he can manage. And he has noticed one very important thing, here. He fixes the comm with a very serious look, before asking:]

....So, who do I need to yell at for not tellin' me the Dodgers left Brooklyn? Los Angeles doesn't even have trolleys, why do they need a team called the Dodgers.

[A little mutter:] At least the Mets are around, so we don't have to root for the Yankees.

Well, I haven't been back in a couple years, there was a war to fight at home. --And I hear it's changed a lot, now, but.

I'm from a place called Brooklyn, in one of the biggest cities in the country. New York City. It's ..always busy there, or at least that's how I remember it. Always somethin' going on. There are buildings everywhere, some cars, too, and a lot of busses.

[maybe it's the disorientation, but he is just not comprehending any of this]

Where? And why is this even important? Do you have any idea where we are?

Yeah? [with a hint of wryness:] Either way--if things don't change around here, I'm guessing you'll have a long time to choose.

Brooklyn, kid. In New York.

Of course I do, we're on the Tranquility. [Shut up, Francis, baseball is still important.]

[There's a sound of confusion, something like a grunt or a hum. It's confused. She's confused.]

Well, I don't know, I was overseas at the time, doll.

All I know is he took some super-serum thing and all of a sudden he's taller 'n me and running dumbass rescue missions behind enemy lines. [Not that he doesn't appreciate those dumbass rescue missions, but.]

Well, yeah, it's probably why he waited to do it until after I left.

But you might see him around here. Big blond fella, called Steve Rogers. Sometimes calls himself Captain America.

[She chuckles.]

Captain America? A little self ego boosting going on there too, huh?

voice;

[deadandred]

No, actually, I think the papers gave him that one. He sure as hell wouldn't pick it.

voice;

[thenormalsquint]

But now he calls himself that so he must have liked something about it.

Well, it sort of stuck, I guess.

He could have said "Hey, my name is Steve." Too hard?

You can't really be a big war-bond sellin' hero if you go out onstage and say 'hi, my name is Steve, buy war bonds', can you?

I don't know the first thing about selling war-bonds so I can't answer that question.

I don't either, but I'm pretty sure that no one's gonna buy 'em from a regular guy named Steve.

If he's a smooth-talker and looks cute, I might.
