[Jim addresses the network with prim efficiency this jump. his voice, curiously, is devoid of most of the warmth and infectious rabel-rousing it normally has. instead, it's clipped and professional; the voice of a captain stating facts and orders. anyone who has been around a while will know that something is off, and as he goes on, it becomes clear why.]

Tranquility this is Jim Kirk. To anyone joining us, welcome, and to anyone returning, welcome back.

I know you all have questions. Myself and those who have been on board for a while will be happy to answer any that you have, but before doing so I'll clear some of the more obvious ones up.

You're on the space ship Tranquility, a colonization vessel in a parallel universe to your own. The year is 938 A.E., and presently, we have no way of returning anyone to their home continuum. We ask, instead, that you lend a hand in the running of the ship. This isn't mandatory, but we are all that's left of a crew. Even if you have no previous experience on a starship, we'll be able to find a place for you.

Attached to this broadcast is what we have of a map of the ship. It's a rough outline, as we've found corridors spontaneously change, commonly with each jump. I ask everyone to be cautious when moving about the ship, and to avoid engaging the entity commonly known as "Smiley" on board.

[here, the pauses briefly, the crux of his attitude coming to light.]

Presently, I'd like anyone with information on missing persons to come forward. Dean Winchester and Doctor Leonard McCoy have both disappeared from our number, and I have the feeling they aren't the only ones.

I'm wondering who would be the best person to contact, if I'm looking for a position in security? I'd like to make myself useful, and that seems like the best fit.

[he pauses, because the words grab his chest and wrench them hard. he knows he's overreacting to the loss; hell Dean and Bones aren't the first people he's ever lost, but the swell that rushes into his throat is almost crippling. how he manages to keep his tone even is a wonder, even to Kirk himself.]

Welcome aboard, Mr. Blake. I wish it was under better circumstances.

[Kirk can function perfectly well without Dean and Bones. hell, he'd only known Dean for eight months, and he'd been fine for the same eight without the doctor around.

but the sense of loss is crippling. his appetite is suffering for it, and all he wants is to beat the punching bags in the exercise rooms to until he can't move anymore. scream until he can't speak. let the surge of overwhelming sadness take him over. but he doesn't know what will happen if he does, so he folds his hand into a fist that turns his knuckles white on the tabletop, and doesn't turn on his own video.

seeing Godric face, oddly, is only making the feeling worse. it's twisting into his expression, he can feel it, and he can't let the network see that. his voice is tight, steady, though he doesn't know how he's doing it.]

[ She had already found this information on her own but knowing that someone had a more firm grasp of the situation was comforting. He sounded like one of authority.

More comforting to her was that her assumption was correct. It was the only logical explanation considering she had experienced it before; She had been pulled into some sort of alternate reality. Again. Knowing that any amount of time could pass before her partner Killy arrived or she was returned to her original reality was frustrating but understandable. The first time she crossed into another reality, she waited over ten years. This time? Who knew.

She now took Kirk's request to mind. ]

Due to the unstable nature of the wormholes we jump through [because he's convinced that's what it is], Tranquility pulls people from across the universe into the ship. It stands to reason that it can eject people from this universe in the same manner.

[because he can't think about them, not extensively. he can't let himself wallow because he can feel himself teetering on the edge of something he can't control. is it cowardly to run from it? maybe.

also, he'll probably be asking about a crew position. after all, what better way to take a look at the inner workings of this ship? assuming it had inner workings...

the last time he'd been here (would be here, he reminds himself), had he done it? or had he just laid low, knowing that eventually he'd be turning up here in his past? questions that he would only know the answer to in time. ]

[Jim blinks when he sees this face, because he knows it; way back when he'd first arrived. what was his name again?]

It's an enigma, mostly.

When we were first contacted by it, we stumbled across a pair of skeletons that had been stripped to the bone by some kind of tool with the message 'sorry about the mess' written in grease paint on the wall, along with food for those who had found them. It hasn't done anything outright violent toward any passengers, to our knowledge, but it's worth being approached with caution.

[there's a pause as Jim's gaze flicks away, and he brings up an information post that he shares via link.]
