In light of recent events, I find it relevant to suggest that the vessel's security team, while consistently reliable, is only one variant thereof. Recent transmissions from an anonymous source largely referred to as smiley, have illuminated the insufficiency of our attempts to both locate the source and individual responsible. I am aware that we have several individuals aboard who consider technological security and the bypass thereof- a specialty, and I am equally aware that despite these assets, we have gleaned, comparably, very little.

I believe we would benefit significantly from teaching these skills to others and forming a technical security network, for the express purpose of tracking, locating, and attempting to engage this individual.

I can offer no personal guarantees regarding the success or, at this interim, the establishment of such a unit. However, I would not be averse to conversing with interested parties. If you possess technical proficiency of any kind or the inclination to learn, your participation would be welcome.

At this time, I believe I should clarify that while these anonymous messages are most engaging, I am not of the opinion that we should offer them exclusive focus. The Tranquility remains in a state of perpetual disrepair and remarkably little is intimately understood about it's origins and technology. While a surveillance team will likely provoke further questions, it does not eliminate those we have failed to answer thus far.

Upon arrival, you made commentary regarding your brother's mental health. Given the personal nature of the subject, and the very public forum to which you made announcement, I am inclined to ask- if you truly believe him to be unsound.

I said he jumped off a building cause he thought he could fly, it was up to everyone else to decide whether I thought he was sound or not. Fact is...

I have a lot more faith in my brother than other people might give him, cause as far as he goes I've got a tether about a mile long. I give him the benefit of the doubt when I oughta jump right in and hold him back. I'd say there was nothing wrong with him, but I'd probably be wrong. He's been through a lot, and he hasn't had time to recover from it. He'd be in counseling if there was any hope of a counselor understanding what he's been through. What both of us have.

But you're not asking if he's crazy, you're asking if he can be trusted, if he's someone you can have confidence in in an emergency, and as a member of this crew, and I gotta tell you the honest to god truth. He will never let you down, and he will never willfully endanger anyone else's life. Most dangerous thing he does is make decisions emotionally without thinking through the consequences.

In truth, I was asking why you chose to relay this information to an audience you were largely unfamiliar with, in equally unfamiliar surroundings. What purpose did you hope to serve?

I stand by what I said before on that same post, that I was trying to protect him.

It might not seem like the best way to do it to you, and maybe I did misjudge my audience, but at the time I was doing what I thought was right.

Protect him from what?

From himself, mostly. He is delicate; suggestible, emotionally manipulable. He comes into contact with the wrong person and they'll use what he can do against him. And that's what he did--stood out and told a whole ship full of strangers about his abilities.

It's not only up to me to protect him from that, but to protect everyone else from him--though he'd say I was interfering where I don't belong. He doesn't understand my responsibilities toward him, as his older brother.
