Tranquility, this is Jim Kirk.

Anyone injured or still suffering side effects from the fear gas should check in with medical. Scans are showing the gas is out of the ship's circulation now, but we can never be too careful. For anyone wondering, we do have a suspect in custody, but he's currently recovering from a high dosage of the toxin.

[he pauses, a clear indication that he's changing topics.]

We all knew we were being watched. Despite this recent information, nothing's really changed. Nevertheless I encourage everyone to stay alert and try not to travel alone. This thing is trying to make us nervous, lets try not to give it what it wants.

( Enterprise Crew, Re-l, Chase, John, Sherlock, Natasha, Kasumi, Dean || eta "Nick", Jack Harkness, Ianto, Magneto, Raven, Megamind, Roxanne, Tali, Hotspur, Isaac, Tony Stark, Aberdeen || flags to WARD and RESNIK )

[the filter is a simple one and used solely to make this post private from any civilian prying eyes. Jim knows it will be hacked, and he isn't about to toot his own horn publicly when people are panicking. he's flagged people both versed in this scientific bullshit and outside, because Jim knows as well as any that sometimes it takes an outside view to see outside the box.

just in case anyone hasn't spotted it yet, he fires off a LINK to the hidden documents, along with the translation, making it plain English instead of happy morse code.]

This isn't the first time this thing has mentioned me.

I'm not opening speculation about what the list means, we've got enough of that going on, but whatever this is has purposely left out the clues we need to figure it out. I think Chase has summed it up the best possible way: we're being laughed at.

I tried running another trace but the only thing I keep coming up with is static. Whatever this thing is, it's either part of the ship or has been here for a damn long time. It's coding is almost identical to the network's build.

[...This seems like someone who actually knows what's going on, so Buffy's going to see if she can get away with picking his brain a little.]

What makes you think that?

[ oh buffy, his brain is the last place anyone should ever want to be. ]

Any and all attempts to trace the source of the communications have rerouted professionals to the Tranquility itself. If there is an organic individual responsible for these messages, they are likely to be a person native to the Tranquility's continuum and thus familiar with it's technology.

[ But he knows things she wants to! ]

Or someone who's good enough to build an entire AI. Or is there some reason individuals capable of that have been rule out?

An individual may be capable of creating artificial intelligence, but to perform the tasks that our anonymous messenger has done would require an intimate knowledge of the vessel itself, as well as an understanding and proficiency at navigating it's internal communications and networking.

To say the least.

And none of the passengers here are good enough or from a place advanced enough for them to be likely subjects?

[ She's privately skeptical, but she'll work for it for now. ]

Then it could be...Ward, Resnik, some other person we don't know of who has a longstanding relationship with the ship, or a native AI? Any options I'm missing?

Allow me to clarify.

The Tranquility is largely inaccessible, to passengers and original crew members alike.

Okay.

Who are you, and what authority do you have?

[Then maybe she'll have a better basis to see if what he's saying can be trusted.]

[ a faint inclination of his head. he- might be poking fun. only a teensy, tiny bit. ]

Captain Ward and Commander Resnik are the commanding personnel of the Tranquility. I, as you are, am merely a misappropriated passenger.
blondeandperky: (hey you)

[personal profile] blondeandperky 2012-05-24 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ward and Resnik can't control the passengers here to the degree that things are under control.

And you're answering in the place of someone else.

[ Denying his power is only going to make her more suspicious. ]
firstofficer: (✩ONE:: unsure.doubt.)

[ one brow arches delicately. ]

Control?

You know, make sure mutinies are contained and that sort of thing...

[personal profile] firstofficer 2012-05-26 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The passengers of this ship rallied and dismantled the previous attempted mutiny of their own volition.
blondeandperky: (maybe if I rearrange the wires)

Without any hierarchical organization?

It is the nature of organic beings to do what is necessary to further survival.

Sure.

[Buffy makes a face.]

But it's not our nature to do so effectively.
