[ Tommy's looking a little worse for wear right now, sitting up on one of the beds in the medbay and carefully angling the camera so it mostly just shows his face and not the stuff that's still healing up from his adventure the other night. There might be kids watching, okay?

He's also sounding a little extra terse. ]

In the medbay. Fine, but I'll probably be here another day. If you were wondering. Object fu-- [ cover your ears kids!! ] frigging lesson in why we should be sticking to a buddy system on this ship.

[ And definitely for the first time she's arrived here, Cat smiles to herself and laughs properly. It doesn't last long, but at least it's not harsh or mocking for once. She's still glad no one got to see it, mind. ]

Me too. Jesus, I'd be more worried about a person going around biting us than a dog. [ Hm. How does normal human interaction work again? ] What's your name, anyway?

[ Close enough. ]

[ Tommy doesn't smile in return, exactly, but his expression relaxes, the corners of his mouth stop frowning. ]

Tommy. You?

[ She rolls her eyes a little to herself, not because of Tommy but because they've been talking about dogs just now, and her name (or at least her preferred variant) is practically the animal opposite to that. ]

Cat.

[ Tommy would make a terrible joke here, except his mom taught him manners.

So. Right. No, really, how does social interaction work again? ]

Any people try to bite you, let me know.

Don't reckon you'd be able to do much about that, given how you're looking right now. [ She doesn't mean that unkindly, just realistically. ] I still have a metal pipe on me, and I'm not planning on wandering around without it.

[ Tommy just grunts his approval. It's not a perfect solution, but there's a lot you can do with a metal pipe if you're ready and willing to do it. ]

You planning on wandering around alone?

Maybe.

[ It's a childish answer given with an immature flair, but after a moment she relents somewhat. ]

Don't have anyone to wander around with anyway, and I can look after myself. There's worse than dogs running around where I come from.

[ Tommy can sympathize more or less. If he didn't get along with Tyke, he'd be a lot more inclined to go around on his own, even if it was obviously a dangerous idea. ]

What about demons?

[ That absolutely justifies hanging out on your own around here, yep. ]

[ If she's set on it, Tommy's not enough of a hypocrite to try to talk her out of it. ]

[ Like she didn't know that already, but it'd make Tommy's life on the security team a lot easier. ]
