In the spirit of sharing things . . .

[He gives a little sigh and tiredly rubs at his face.]

Many of you know what werewolves are, whether they are simply myths or actual reality for you. For those who don't, however-- werewolves are people who, during the full moon, change into wolves. Rather self-explanatory, I know. If someone is bitten by a werewolf while they are in their wolf form, they too become a werewolf. As far as I've heard, it's the same the world over.

Where I come from, however, there has been a cure developed-- not to remove the curse entirely, but to subdue it. It so happens I found the ingredients in my locker a few days ago.

[He stares at the camera firmly.]

Should anyone need it, or would like to try it-- I will not ask you to reveal yourselves. I don't believe anyone should be forced into revealing who or what they are, should they not wish to. But my room-- and the potion-- is always open to any who might want to try it.

This also means, however, that during the full moon, I am not dangerous. I'd appreciate anyone suddenly deciding they fancy themselves monster hunters to curb that urge; there is no need for it.

No. [ Definitely not; Erik would never dream of doing such a thing like that here - not unless they deserved it. ]

A victim. Possessed by a demon.

[He sucks in a soft breath.]

When? For how long?

About a month. [ There's a sharpness to his tone, approaching the entire matter as clinically as possible. Erik doesn't need pity for what he does. He needs to confess. ]

Not the most pleasant of experiences when you're no longer in control of your own actions.

No. It isn't.

[He hesitates, trying to figure out how to respond.]

Was it killed afterward?

I would imagine so. [ Erik pauses. ] There are traps laid around the ship, supposedly capable of killing them.

[ Truth be told, he doesn't know how they work, what with never encountering such a thing before. ]

In any case, I have no idea if they affect anyone else, but I would stay away.

I wasn't precisely planning on going near one.

[A beat.]

If you don't mind me asking, how long ago was this?

I only recovered a few days ago. The injuries I encountered are still fresh and need time to heal.

[His stomach drops. A month-- which means for a few weeks, he had kept company and not noticed a thing. It's not as if he could have known, but still Remus feels a flash of guilt.]

I'm sorry.

[And this time, it's an apology, not a condolence.]

[ Normally not prone to accepting apologies, Erik does so this time, a nod in appreciation though his face is as solemn as ever. ]

So am I. It should never have happened.

No. Nor will it again.

[A few seconds pass. He isn't sure if this will help, but:]

We have a curse quite similar to that where I'm from-- something that gives you complete control over someone's body. We call them Unforgiveable Curses, and there are two others, but I think it's that I dread the most. There's something terrifying about someone else controlling you.

It's also why I despise transforming once a month.

[ Erik stills for a moment, trying to process Remus' implications in his words. He understands the attempt at solidarity, the explanation just why Remus doesn't blame him, but what strikes him most is the way Remus attempts to bridge connections. To have someone control you, the way Remus himself feels that way, and he frowns slightly. ]

You don't need to let it control you, Remus.

No. Nor do I any longer, if I can help it. There are potions that help, but.

[He shrugs.]

The very nature of my curse is to let it have utter control over your mind. It's difficult to fight that.

Is it? [ Erik speaks with curiosity, rather than offense. He's always been a big believer in control over anything else, and this contradicts everything Erik believes. ]

A wolf's mind is more simpler than a man's. I would expect more intellectual instincts to overtake those.

[ Unless of course he's wrong, which is also likely. ]

[He shakes his head.]

Have you ever had a fever, by any chance?

I have, yes. [ Not the most pleasant of experiences considering Erik tried his best to keep himself in good condition. Though he'd humor Remus, brows knitted in curiosity. ]

[He nods.]

Then you remember how you would shiver, despite the fact you didn't want to. Your body would sweat and your temperature would rise, though you'd be freezing, despite the fact you didn't want it to. No matter what your mind ordered it, your body rebelled.

It's rather like that. [A wry twist of a smile.] Though a bit more extreme, I'll grant you.

[ He does remember those feelings, trudging through them constantly because they'd always come back to irritate him, the number of nights when Erik was convinced he wasn't sick and kept going, because he had a purpose to achieve and the caretaker would often have to coerce him to remain in bed. ]

A bit? [ He offers a grim smile. ] An understatement, perhaps. How do you handle it every month?

[He snorts and gestures toward his face.]

I didn't get these scars from sheer clumsiness. When it has no pray, the wolf turns on itself.
