[ Okay, he's go it now. Alex clears his throat and speaks up - ]

Okay, uh. I'm looking for some people. Sean Cassidy - this tall, scrawny ginger kid, looks high half the time. Hank McCoy - really blue, really fuzzy, hard to miss. Answers to 'Beast' or 'Bozo'. Likely to bore people to death with science.

[ There's a momentary pause while Alex just looks sort of awkward, lips in a thin line while he stares at the device. God, this is weird. Okay. ]

[ Aaaand... another moment of awkward staring. And blinking. Oh fuck this technology thing, this is stupid. He'll just go back to mumbling while he starts flipping the comm device over. ]

[ He gives a deadpan sort of look, but really, what should he expect? Humans aren't exactly used to mutant being around. ]

[ She shrugs. ] I was told it had something to do with keeping us safe during the jumps. Something about stasis or whatever.

And 'jump's supposed to mean what? [ 1962 kid fails at all of this ]

It's whatever happens when the ship decides it needs to pick up more people. I don't know how it works, what we go through or why, so you'll have to safe those questions for someone else.

Makes about as much sense as anything else. [ Which means none. But whatevs, he'll ask someone else and not understand anything they say about it, la de da ] How long you been around?

[ She shrugs; considering everything else, October's pretty sure that whatever brought them here and whoever's running the ship don't really give a shit if anything makes sense or not. ] A little over a week. It feels like it's been a hell of a lot longer, though.

Yeah. Same for me. [ On the time, not so much it feeling longer. It'll be a while before this seems normal to him. ] You used to the space shit where you come from?

[ She shakes her head. ] Not personally; the whole astronaut dream wasn't one that ever actually hit me, even when I was a kid. I've got some experience with really fucked up shit, though. [ Which is why she can mostly take the space thing in stride. It's everything else she sometimes has a hard time wrapping her head around. ] What about you?

Fucked up shit? [ An eyebrow raised ] Like what?

[ He shakes his head and shrugs ] We're still working on the moon where I'm from.

Basically? This seriously messed up chick from a really long time ago came back as a vengeful bitch of a ghost because of an incantation me and my friends read at the beginning a video game.

[ Her eyebrows lift in surprise. ] You're kidding.

Incantation? Like... witch craft? [ paaause ] What's a video game?

[ He shakes his head slowly ] Nope.

Yeah, like witch craft. [ Give her a second to process that. Or five. Maybe even a few minutes. Then she remembers his comment about the moon, which explains it but doesn't make her feel any better. ] Up until this happened, they were one of the best inventions in the world. You know board games at all?

...Weird. [ He's not sure he really believes that, but okay, lady. He blinks at her for a moment, shifting awkwardly. He doesn't like not knowing things. ] Like monopoly? Yeah. What about 'em?

Monopoly's not really the best example here, but it's better than nothing. Imagine a movie -- [ god, she hopes you have movies back home, Alex ] -- and a board game combined, only instead of just watching, you actually get to interact with the game. You have a character you control and, depending on the game, you play through the story with them. Does that make sense at all?
