I don't know if you were involved with... everything, but I just- Tell me you're okay? And what happened? Are passengers really starting to turn against each other?

[Someone locked herself in her room once she caught wind of all the talk about mutiny, which she isn't proud of, but what's done is done. Now she's just worried about her friends. :c And basically I just made this hackable in case anyone wants to see the blue girl being blue, or talk to her about what exactly happened.]

[And suddenly she's hit with how much she misses Charles, again. He'd be able to explain much better than she could. However, there's still a part of her that doesn't really want to.]

The last time anyone showed any interest in my mutation, it was quickly followed by a request to have me locked down in a government facility until they could "figure out what to do with me". You understand why I'm hesitant to divulge someone I've never met before, right? Just be honest - why do you really want to know? If it's for research purposes, I'm not sure I feel like sharing.

[ Mutation. Genetics is a rather unfamiliar subject to him, but he kind of gets the idea. Or at least he's trying to work it out in his head, rubbing his finger over his bottom lip in thought as he stares at the comm device.

He doesn't know Charles, but if he did he'd probably really want to meet him and...have a chat. ]

I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience, but I assure you my intentions are not at all unsavory. [ A lie. But he's not like those suits she's used to, that's for sure, and as for his intentions, well...they may be unsavory but they're definitely not the same as those of the U.S. government. No, he likes to think much bigger. ]

I'm from Earth, yes. Human, female. On a very basic level, my mutation allows me to shape-shift. My voice, my appearance, everything. My mind is my own, but everything else can change into whoever I want to become.

[ Human? Now that really gives him pause, more so than the description of her powers. Fingers hovering over his device and he's glad he decided to stick to texting because he wouldn't want anyone to see the amount of surprise on his face.

He hadn't been on Earth very long before arriving here, but he'd been pretty sure humans didn't possess any such...abilities. If they do, if there are more of them like this girl, well. That complicates things a bit. Not to mention seriously chafes his ego because how could he not know this??? ]

Shape-shifters? No. As far as I know, I'm the first. But there are other mutants, yes. The mutations all vary; some physical like mine, and some mental/internal. But I only just met other mutants recently, I really have no idea how many of us there are.

[ Fascinating. Loki finds himself wanting to know more about this than ever, but he reins himself in for the most part. Plays it cool. It's easy to do, for him, and even easier over text messaging. When she can't see the interested gleam in his eyes, the not so savory intentions. ]

[ It's kind of unfair that these humans, or mutants are innately capable of many of the magics he spent years learning, devoting himself to so that he'd be on par with the rest of the Asgardians in some way, if he couldn't be as physically strong. He still has no doubt that he could dominate them, because magic isn't his only strength, but—

Before he can spiral down that path, he gets her next message.

And he pauses, for only a moment because he doesn't want to make her too suspicious, or give her more of a reason to distrust him— ] Loki.

[ Because if he wants to keep interrogating her without scaring her off, he'll need to give, just a little. He knows this. And after he's given, he continues, ]

Is the blue form your natural form, then?

[After a moment, she flicks her video feed back on, deliberately shifting slowly out of her "normal" skin, back into her natural blue.]

Only three others on the ship know I can do this. I don't plan on keeping it a secret forever, but I'd like the decision to tell the rest of the ship to be mine alone. Can I trust you with this?

[ Seeing her blue form causes a weird kind of gut reaction—a pang of loathing, the deeply rooted, almost intrinsic loathing of an Asgardian for Jotnar (that race of monsters) of which he hasn't been able to rid himself, even after finding out his true heritage and defecting from Asgard. And he probably never will. But he has a lot of anger and hate in him, and it's not just for Jotnar—in fact, his hatred of them is miniscule compared to his hatred of, say, Odin. Thor. All of Asgard and anyone else who's ever scoffed at him, laughed at him, or told him no, Loki. So Raven has nothing to worry about, at least as far as him hating her goes.

Especially since he know she's not actually a Jotun. And the longer he looks on her true form, the more he sees the differences and the less he associates her with them. As he switches the feed to video, he even kind of smiles a little. Which actually isn't a good thing because it always means trouble. ]

Of course. [ Haahahaha... no. She really can't trust him—at all. But where this secret is concerned, at least, he has no reason (yet) to go telling anyone so he won't. ] This look is rather enchanting, if you ask me. [ The smile hitches a little higher. ] It suits you.

And as there are quite a number of non-humans on board already, is there really any reason to hide it?

[Raven just looks back as he looks at her, and she can't read his expression, not really, but even through the little screen she can tell he's taking a second to... process, or whatever. Which is fine, she expected as much, but it still makes her a bit nervous.

Until he says she looks enchanting, well, then she's all smiles again. Bright white against her dark blue skin.]

[So that's four people, four men now that she's thinking about it, that aren't terrified of her when she's in her true form. ..Huh!]

And non-human doesn't mean they have abilities, like me. Shape-shifting... I think it scares people a little bit. I mean, I could become anyone, at any time. Nobody would know unless they could read my mind. I don't want anyone to be afraid of me because of what I can do, that's all.

[ He notes the way she lights up at the compliment. Always keeping tabs on how to please people. And how to wound them and fuck with them and just generally manipulate them. What words to say and tones to use to bend them to his will. Sorry Raven. He doesn't actually have an honest opinion about her appearance one way or the other, except for that small lingering thread connecting her in his mind to his hated heritage. How in that moment when she shifted before, he had a brief flashback to the way his own skin turned deathly blue that day on Jotunheim.

But that's neither here nor there. He does think, however, that she doesn't have any real reason to hide her true form on the Tranquility, as there are way weirder fucks walking around who don't seem to care one way or the other. ]

Well I think it's impressive. [ Kind of. He can pretty much do the same thing. And while he should actually feel a little disconcerted, that she can change her form so completely and become anyone she wants, she doesn't come off as a threat. Because— ] It's not the abilities that are frightening, but the intent behind them.

[ His smile darkens a bit, looking slightly more like a smirk. But maybe it's just a trick of the light. ]

If you do not give people a reason to fear you, then they won't. Considering your competition, [ monsters that attack people in the corridors and feed on them for sustenance, aliens who attempt hostile takeovers, etc. ] I would say you have nothing to worry about. Unless...you think you might be easily led astray? For example, by those with less savory intentions.

[She actually finds it all kinda comforting, for a while. Familiar words, but told by someone different, new. She can't use the excuses she's use with Charles, that he knows her and is only trying to make her feel better, and that makes it... different. Hn.

But then he asks that last question and she can't help the oh please look of sass she gives him.]

I'm too strong to be led astray by anyone, let alone anyone unsavory. [Kinda true, mostly not. Manipulation doesn't just roll off of her, after all. But she's always been careful enough about who she lets close that she doesn't need to worry. Usually.] Things are much different where I'm from than they are here, that's all. I've had to hide all my life, it's not so easy to just stop now.

[ No she definitely cannot use those excuses with Loki. Because he doesn't know her, but he can tell she's not someone he wants against him. Because even if she is just a girl, seemingly genuine and harmless, you can never tell just what might set somebody...off. Or how other people might use them, what might cause them to turn on him even if he does manage to sway them to his side. With Thor on board, he's not taking any chances. Thor would undoubtedly discourage people from making alliances of "friendships" with Loki, and Loki needs to make as many preemptive measures as possible against that.

Even just starting with people like Raven. He smiles a little more. ] Good. I am glad to hear it, otherwise I should worry for you. Not to say that there are many people here who might do such a wretched thing, but...

[ A beat. ]

[ Anyway. ] In which case, I suppose it is better to err on the side of caution. [ He certainly hasn't shown anybody what he can do yet. Keeping his cards close to his chest. ] Smart girl.

[Raven likes to think she's done with worrying about and seeking the approval of others, but it's clear in the way she smiles back and eventually looks away that she, for whatever reason, is glad to have his. Even if the only reason why they're having this conversation is because he managed to hack into her encrypted messages. Details, details.

Curious ones though, for sure.]

So, you never told me if you were non-human or not. Not that it matters much to me, I'm just wondering. There must be a reason you're named after Loki, right? [Now she's looking all kinds of curious, because there's really nothing more exciting for her than meeting someone who's different, like her. She can't just guess what his ability might be, though she's starting to think it might be something like Charles'. Mental, hidden.]

[ It's cool, don't worry about those details. He's always trying to hack into things, nbd. He likes to know everything that's going on, especially the things that people try to hide because those are usually the most vital, or at least the most interesting. And this time proved to be no different.

Besides, what does she expect with such shoddy encrypting? ]

He holds his free hand up in front of the device, the backs of his fingers turned towards the screen and suddenly there's a snake. It appears from the palm of his hand and coils—oh so slowly—down his wrist, his arm, twining serpentine and then disappearing just as suddenly before it goes off-screen. He curls his fingers down towards his palm. ]

[She should be more suspicious. Alarmed, maybe. Like there should be a little red flag waving at his use of the word 'trickster' and that he calls himself Loki and the fact that he just made a snake appear out of thin air, or worse, made her see a snake that wasn't even there. Mind bending. It's the kind of thing she used to get ridiculously mad at Charles for doing.

But right now all she can do is laugh, lean a little closer to her device in open interest.]

[ She should be more alarmed, but the fact that she isn't bodes all the better for Loki. While everyone will learn to fear him in time, right now he needs allies. He doesn't need everybody fearing him yet.

He'd rather Raven think he's just like her, and come to like him, rather than scare her off from the onset. ]
