[she turns on the video, and whistles. two little scout machina scamper up her arms and perch on each of her shoulders. one is pink and one is blue, and they are both about six inches tall]

Scouting, mostly.

For a while, yeah. But once everything got all turned around, I stopped sending them out 'cause it was pretty useless.

I take it they don't have any better luck mapping than people do? That's too bad. Still they might be useful for avoiding black holes or manticores, or patroling the empty floors.

I've thought about making more--and bigger, too--but it's a matter of getting the materials, you know?
