Yeah, you say that now, but give it a few years. Which would be now, technically speaking. Since we're in some vague facsimile of the future.

What, you mean as in the ship's the bastard? Not someone controlling it? I think the "evil" portion's fairly well established.

Basically. Whether it's a person, or people, or an AI, or what. The evil part is definitely not in question.

I don't see why not. We've already got the superheroes, though I can't say there's any scientific evidence for telepathy being a thing just yet. [ Like, anywhere. Not even on SHIELD's creepy list. ]

Even if it's an AI, it had to have been built by someone. Working out their motivations may be more important than getting distracted by the results.

I take it that in addition to telepaths your world is also missing independent AIs. Even if they're built by someone that doesn't necessarily mean that person continues to control them. Or that anyone does.

That's as far as I'm aware. The year's been full of surprises, so I wouldn't rule either of them out entirely.
