[When the video transmission starts, there’s a rather neat and tidy man in a suit, seated in one of the passenger quarters.]

I’ll give it to this place, this has to be one of the oddest awakenings I’ve had. Still doesn’t beat Nepal though…

[The last part is muttered, almost to himself, before he turned back to the camera, all business.]

Not to ask the same question twice, but I’d like to go home as much as the next person, so perhaps I’ll save on some of the legwork and reach out. How can I help make sure this ship reaches its destination in one piece? I do have military training and my information gathering skills can be useful.

[There’s a small pause, and then he smiles, a small almost innocent look.]

Also I’m rather decent at poker, if that will help us any. So, who’s recruiting?

( doctor is probably not her first name. )

Was it military intelligence, for your 'information gathering'? You don't quite strike me as the type.

[He'll give a polite inclination of his head, before grinning in amusement at her assessment.]

I find that's usually the best type. People are more willing to talk if you don't seem the information gathering type.

Then little wonder military intelligence is so often an unfortunate punchline.

( dry, but it's a joke, not a hostility. and really -- there is a type for him to play against, and it's not as good at the job, probably. )

[That'll get a small chuckle out of Eames, and he shrugs his shoulders a bit helplessly.]

It is a thin line between looking like you aren't gathering information and actually being unable to.

[A small thoughtful pause.]

Though what about yourself? Do you happen to have a specialty Dr. Gallo?

[milagros]

Several, yes. My background is primarily in biotechnology and biomedical engineering.

( including but not limited to. of course, it's been years since mila was a career scientist - years since she published anything - but that's not something she feels the need to discuss here, just yet. )

[embellishing]

[He'll grin at that, interested.]

A woman of many talents I see. [He can respect that.] So what does an intelligent woman like you make of all this?

[He gestured vaguely to the room and ship around him at large.]

An intelligent woman like myself knows better than to make quick and dirty judgement calls when she doesn't have to.

Sometimes the quick and dirty judgement calls are the most fun.

[What an astute observation. Eames will put a hand over his heart as if he's been wounded, eyes full of mirth despite his expression conveying mock offense.]

What happened to not making quick and dirty judgements?

Oh, I don't think that was one, ( very dryly. )

[You wound him so. Eames will give her an amused look, quirking an eyebrow.]

Is your bedside manner always this pointed or am I special exception?

I suspect you'd like that, so while I do hate to disappoint-- ( she does not. ) --it would be more fair to say that it is.

Somehow I get the impression you'll survive disappointing me.

[It still tickles him regardless. He's being far too transparent, apparently.]

Though I would hope if I had to come under your care, I can count on your medical technique.

I wouldn't have any concerns on that front.
