I’ll give it to this place, this has to be one of the oddest awakenings I’ve had. Still doesn’t beat Nepal though…

Not to ask the same question twice, but I’d like to go home as much as the next person, so perhaps I’ll save on some of the legwork and reach out. How can I help make sure this ship reaches its destination in one piece? I do have military training and my information gathering skills can be useful.

For the record, the dangers in this ship include monsters made through genetic work, mass hallucinations, psychic influence (ranging from mood fluctuation to outright mind control) from an unknown source assumed to be an entity controlling the ship, torture through isolation, occasional stops at other hostile territories, reality disruptions, and being abandoned to die during the jumps. Among other things.

[ Severus isn't normally the good information Samaritan, but he can only take reading so many vague recommendations in one place. ]

How many of these things have you experienced firsthand?

I've witnessed all of them.

[ Severus does a lot of herding and note-taking, and only occasionally ends up out in 'the field' by his own choice. ]

Engaging directly with obstacles thrown at us by this environment is done by all passengers, typically, as the scope of such incidents is never courteous enough to contain itself to security's patrol zones. I believe their work is more focused on inter-passenger conduct. Someone petulantly set fire to a bar not long ago, for example.

[Because that doesn't sound like a picnic, not in the least. And the more he hears about security the more it sounds a bit like babysitting except with a higher likelihood for trauma.]

Is there anything that can combat the effects, even if just slightly? Or we at this ship's mercy?

It's split focus between genetics and posthuman therapy (supernatural beings, magic, mutant abilities, etc), and we document ship phenomenon that impacts passengers.

[ 'Fascinating', to be sure. A lot of all over the place work, but Severus is less irritating when he's busy. ]

While I might not be qualified to help with genetics or the therapy portion, I wouldn't mind offering my assistance in helping document what goes on here. Do you take volunteers or is this a strictly department only project?
