[When the video transmission starts, there’s a rather neat and tidy man in a suit, seated in one of the passenger quarters.]

I’ll give it to this place, this has to be one of the oddest awakenings I’ve had. Still doesn’t beat Nepal though…

[The last part is muttered, almost to himself, before he turned back to the camera, all business.]

Not to ask the same question twice, but I’d like to go home as much as the next person, so perhaps I’ll save on some of the legwork and reach out. How can I help make sure this ship reaches its destination in one piece? I do have military training and my information gathering skills can be useful.

[There’s a small pause, and then he smiles, a small almost innocent look.]

Also I’m rather decent at poker, if that will help us any. So, who’s recruiting?

Pretty much any department will want your help. I can't speak for them all, but SEC is always looking for good people.

Can I ask what department you're from? I'd like to know more about them before making any decisions. A description on a screen is fine but it tends to be the case that it won't mention all the duties that are required.

[And there's a small pause.]

And what is your definition of "good people"?

I'm security. No, really. [She knows she doesn't quite look like the SEC type.]

Usually, 'good people' means someone who can follow orders when need be.

[embellishing]

I wasn't going to say anything, darling.

[Eames knows better than most just how formidable women can be and that only a fool would underestimate someone just based on appearance.]

It depends on the orders and who's giving them.

They usually come down to "get people to safety."

[embellishing]

What sort of dangers are on this ship? One of the posts mentioned vampires but I was hoping it was a joke or exaggeration.

[redheaded_rock]

Yeah, that's probably the thing you'll worry the least about. People get lost in the corridors a good bit. The ship occasionally sends us on some great hallucinogenic trips.

[embellishing]

[That isn't very comforting, but it does make Eames shake his head and chuckle a bit.]

The least of my worries? Well that's fantastic.

[The hallucinogenic trips are worrisome though.]

I take it they're not the sort you'd want to go on. Any way to reduce the symptoms or the severity?

[redheaded_rock]

Well. It's not always... [She trails off.] Okay, so, sometimes it just seems like you're not even on the ship anymore -- or you just get lost in the hallways. Be armed? That's probably the best thing to do.

[embellishing]

[That's a bit surprising.]

I would have thought only security and the like would be allowed to be armed.

[redheaded_rock]

Oh, yeah. We're totally going to take weapons from all the military types that show up here. That'll go over well.

[embellishing]

[The imagery is enough to make Eames chuckle, and he shakes his head, as if to clarify.]

Perhaps that came out incorrectly. I wouldn't have thought a ship that abducts people would want to have them heavily armed and capable of fighting back.

[Though if he knew the thought processes of a sentient and apparently sadistic ship, he might have to worry.]

Oh. Well. Yeah, that too. I think there's a bit more to it than that. Sometimes, it seems like there's two or more entities in charge here. Something sometimes helping and then there's the bad stuff.

[embellishing]

[More than one entity controlling the ship? Now that sounds like it would be worth investigating.]

That's rather peculiar. But one should take any help one should get, I suppose.

I don't know much more than that and that's pretty much speculation. It's one big mystery. Very big.

Speculation can be useful in its own right. What sort of theories do you have?

I don't think I have theories so much as questions.
