You're not alone. People you care about are calling for your help, and you want to go help them. I'm going to ask you to be a little more patient before you run off into the dark. We know they're lost, we know there's something pursuing them, we know they need help. But we also know that the most recent post on the network, the one talking about warnings from the captain - a captain we don't have - wasn't made by one of us. That means this problem is bigger than you think; it's bigger than all of us, and it's important we get a clear image of what we're facing before we leave. Shepard's team has gone missing, and other comms have started going off the radar too--we'll start where they disappeared, and if we do this together, we might even succeed. The last thing we need is more of you lost out there because you chose to do this on your own.
Right now I need your help in a different, but just as important way. If you've received a message from someone, we need to hear them. That way we can establish a thorough list of who's missing, and try and piece together what they were all trying to say.
Tyke, as Head of Security, is going to coordinate the rescue. I imagine she'll speak to you shortly herself. Rest assured we'll need bodies on the ground for this one, and I know there's going to be no telling some of you to stay put, so forgive me if I - at least - save myself the effort of trying. The corridors are dangerous: bring weapons, ammunition, your communicator, but don't worry too much about rations--you won't need them.
[ He seems about to sign off, but he has to address that post, the grinding static and the screams underneath it, all of it so familiar to him by now. ]
...
"They're getting closer." I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound like a coincidence. Whatever we find out there, whatever is after our people, try not to kill it unless you have to. Don't get killed, but bear in mind the risk that we may be deceived into murdering people who would be our allies. I can't shake the feeling that we're being set up. Alright. Hang in there, everyone.

I suppose it is wishful thinking for me to ask if you managed to glean any empirical data from that prior transmission.
text.
We think they're a passenger, someone from the group where the captain was still around to give warnings - probably the warning that came over the emergency network two years ago. They mention interlopers, not being able to communicate with 'them' and people going out of their damn minds. Something or someone is getting closer.
But the most important thing is the last word--the one we didn't get.
I know this might seem out of line but...is there any chance you could send me the messages you mentioned? That is, if you don't mind. We've been looking for similarities and...well, Sheppard and Summers aren't on Shepard's team. I'd really like to know if that changes anything.

His name is Gavroche, he is no more than ten. You will not let him go. No matter what he says, or how he argues. I shall not lose him a second time.
[Okay, so they're sort of orders, but she's serious. Gavroche is bound to volunteer, and she won't stand for it.]
video;
It knocks any words of uncertainty straight out of him, and Nathan stays quiet for a few moments after she's finished speaking. His thoughts of Simon and Monty have been pressing on him since he woke up from his coma. He sees them in his dreams, comforts them in his thoughts, and wakes up feeling almost as if they were right there with him.
A ten year old boy, no older than his eldest. He raises eyes that are sadder than usual to the video, lacking in the resolve he faces everything else with. ]
I can't protect him after I leave, but if I can prevent his going I will try. I can't promise you anything. Getting lost in this ship is as easy as opening a door.

Thank you for this. Though I know no one who has gone missing, in light of everything I've learned... This is extremely troubling.
[You can take the woman out of the Fleet, but you can't take the President out of the woman. Or something.]
If there is anything I can do to help, I volunteer. I am not trained in combat, or any such thing. But I will help as needed.
video;
[ But despite the dire situation does Nathan look unusually strained? No. He's focused, lively, attentive. He may not be that way in 36 hours, but right now he's taking to the canvas with fighting spirit. ]
I'd appreciate your company if you'd spare it. My team will be investigating Commander Shepard's last known coordinates. If anyone knows what happened out there it's her.
If you have a weapon bring it. When there's a manticore bearing down on you you'll work out how to use it fast enough...and if we survive this, there are plenty of people around here who wouldn't mind showing you how to shoot; myself included.

You're going.
[It sounds flat, like a fact, but the question is in his face.]
video;
And now he questions it all over again. Was she even still alive? If they'd rushed in like he'd refused to do, could they have saved her? Was this the ship stepping up its efforts so soon, punishing them for resting on their laurels when it had all but given them a direct command?
What is being done to these people?
There's a long pause on Nathan's end: ]
Yes, I'm going. [ No flippant comment about getting the taste for it, or asking if Ned is surprised. He feels too sick to try on multiple words and a joke is out of the question. ]

[ She takes a while, all the more so when she looks to be in a panic, but eventually Nathan will receive the two audio links to the contact she received from both. ]
I agree that no one should venture thoughtlessly and alone into the halls, but we should not wait long, I do not think. These people seem to be in great danger, too much time passing may have terrible consequences for them.
video;
But they have to hold, even though the risk sounds so great. They have to use their heads. ]
It sounds like she's looking for her children. Some of the messages are from people who have lost their teams, and they're being pursued. Others, like the other one you sent me, they're facing something--some monster. My first guess was manticore but there's more to it than that. Manticores shriek; it's the most blood curdling sound you've ever heard.
Then there's some people who...they go out there looking for someone. They all seem to be people who've disappeared since Shepard's teams went off the grid.
It wants us to rush down there, and we will in our own time, but...but you have to have faith that the ship doesn't want to kill any of these people. Bait's no good if it doesn't keep wriggling.

voice;
Would it shock you to hear that it isn't the only message Tsang sent? And that it's stranger than it looks at first glance?
Take a listen to this and tell me it's normal for people to repeat themselves so clearly. Listen to where the static cuts out.

[ It's— unfortunate for everyone, really, that any time at all passes between Jaime's last message and the departure of rescue teams, as the Queen of Westeros has advanced from silent, nagging worry to steeled rage. She faces the camera sharp-eyed and jaw set, only the slight tension at the corners of her mouth betrays her concern. ]

action/comms?
Is there any way to help track... or get people who go off un-lost, from here?
action/comms!
It's busy and hectic, and that's putting it lightly, but he has time for Robin because he has to make time for coffee, and now and again when there's a frog in his throat of his brain is tired he has to stop and just move around for a moment. ]
If joining the rescue mission isn't your cup of tea I'm not going to insist you come along. There's plenty you can do here. We'll need someone to coordinate us for as long as we can stay online, and keep an eye out for any comms coming back on--people could slip out of this before it's done with us, and there's a strong chance they might be injured or running from something. They're going to need help, and they're going to need directions.
There's other good reasons. This could be a set up, or we might not be coming back. Either of those situations, you'd be the only line of defense protecting our computers; our legacy.
[ If Nathan didn't feel he had to go, he'd feel more strongly that he had to stay. His instinct says he's being reckless, but it's a choice he has to make. ]

outwardly, she appears calm. but the fact that there is a discernible worried light in her eyes speaks volumes. a very dear friend of hers is out there somewhere. and she fears losing any others. there must be some task she might devote herself to in order to aid this effort somehow. beyond prayers.
she is no longer certain if god can hear prayers from space.]None of the missing have attempted to contact me. But I would aid your effort in some way, sir.
What might I do?
