Does there exist documentation or any record concerning the use or effects of magic on the ship? I am interested in notation on repeated instances of magic during menial or daily activities as well as during times of flux as has recently passed, irrelevant to 'type' or origin of said magic.

I have perused the informational guide as well as backread through the network but this technology is not in use where I am from; I am unsure if I have missed anything due to unfamiliarity with the interface.

I don't know about any documentation, but I can give you anecdotal evidence from my own experience?

Well, my magic still works, which kind of surprised me. I haven't had any problems with basic spells like healing or cleaning. I haven't tried anything really complicated yet, but then I haven't been here very long.

Transformation still works. I've done it and I've seen someone else here change forms too.

Is that the kind of thing you're looking for?

Yes. In theory it'd be worthwhile to have expectation suggestions for persons coming in so magic users aren't left to dangerous and blind experimentation, which may take some tedious detail work.

What kind of transformation, if you mind saying? Yourself or transforming other objects?

[She hesitates before answering, remembering that this is public. She's not sure she should give details. No one here seems to care about magic, but the habits of a lifetime make her cautious. He's right about knowing what to expect though.]

Myself. I can change into an animal form. I haven't tried changing anything else.

Yes, though it's slow-going. I'm unsurprised, as among other things, I expect many of us are used to staying hidden.

Yeah, good point. Posting "Hi, I'm a witch!" on a public network isn't something I would have done at home. Even if half the people reading it would think I was just nuts.

[It's always amused her how some people can deny magic even when it's right in front of their eyes. But skeptics like that make it easier to stay hidden.]

Is magic working for you since you got here?

I suppose my patience for hiding it evaporated when I woke up on a space ship.

Yes. I can sense a kind of limitation, it's hard to put my finger on it. But it was interfered with recently during the problem in engineering.

I've noticed that too. Somehow the magic feels "different" but I can't really explain how.

I heard they tried to use magic to free the people trapped on the bridge last month, but it didn't work for them either.

Maybe the ship is immune to magic?

Somewhat like wearing gloves.

If it is immune to magic then it is immune to other sorts of abilities, as well; I was not on board for the bridge incident but looking over records of it suggests a great many things were tried on those doors.

I haven't tried to do magic on the ship itself.

That might be worth an experiment.

As inconsistent as the state of the ship seems to be at times, it doesn't take well to poking at it. I've not been able to manipulate much in the way of walls or bulkheads.

Probably shouldn't mess with the ship then. We wouldn't want to piss it off and end up with holes in the outer walls or something.

So if there isn't already a reference, are you planning to create one?

It's possible. I'm not sure how dedicated I am to public service, though I am dedicated to magic.

Given the diversity of power in this place it looks to be a prolonged project. Which is at least something to do.

I've always found that the people that refuse to admit that magic exists are the ones that aren't prepared for it.

A man without magic but with superhuman ability is making an attempt to resurrect a defunct department on the ship. It is likely I will be involved, if only to have a view into the realm of the crew. I'd considered running this research through there.
