[ The video clicks on, and there's a lanky blonde, somewhat tall, a bit muscled - for a minute you might mistake him for another particular person on the ship. It's easy to do, for some reason, unless of course you notice the hair first - the hair's actually very wavy and somewhat curled, one long strand hanging down. He does have a resemblance, but his body language is all wrong, lazily propped back against the wall, glancing towards the camera. ]

[ There's also a polar bear. ]

[ Albeit, a very small, rather harmless-looking one. For a second, you hear a voice speaking in soft, accented French, obviously talking to - the bear? Though it stops after a moment, and directs itself to the video. Matthew clears his throat. ]

Excuse me? [ He pauses for a moment, and when no one answers right away he sort of - figures things out a bit! Right, right, so there's a network, this is easier to use than he thought. ]

So, this is the Tranquility, eh? [ He rubs the back of his head and grins. He's soft-spoken, but raises his voice a little. ] And we're in space. If… [ He waves a casual hand around. ] This is any inclination?

[ Alright. He can do this. He's been to space before! - Really! He has. What. ] So, this is Matthew Williams or - Canada, if you'd rather. Sorry, uh. I don't suppose anyone has any aspirin, or anything? My head's been killing me since I got here. [ Never mind all the rather crazy, insane things he's been told by the people around him. It's enough to give anyone a headache. ]

[ Have an 11 year old girl turn on the video screen: she greets you with a bit of an odd smile, though. ]

[ Aww, she's kind of sweet looking - he smiles right back, nodding, that one curl bouncing. ]

America is too busy in his room, talking to himself, writing something important down apparently... which sounds like a food order or something.

He pauses as he thinks he hears a familiar voice from his communicator across the room, but it's so faint, he ignores it.
Then, he pauses, thinking a little more about it.. then practically LEAPS to get his communicator. Enthusiastically, he turns on the video. ]}

OH MY GOD... HOLY SHIT.....!!!!

_{[ Then, he just sort of stops, looking at the communicator for a moment. Squinting even.

Wait.. I don't... never mind. Sorry, I thought you were somebody else.

[ He blinks at the bear and they seems to - well. Actually have a conversation. Not really out loud, that's silly, polar bears can't talk. But Canada seems to stare at the animal for some time, finally nodding. ]

Kuma. Er. Kuma... [ Kumakichi? No. ] You can call him Kuma. He's a polar bear. [ Because having polar bears as pets is entirely normal. ]

[He blinks. He does believe it's America for a good few moments, wondering what on earth happened to make him look so... so calm. But once he speaks, it's clear. And he smiles; he feels terrible for making the mistake. Lord knows how many times his people had been mistaken for Germans. He was always "oh right, the third German-speaking country." And at least he wasn't cursed with looking like his cousins. Although he did wonder, sometimes, in the back of his mind, what it would be like to look like Ludwig...]

Goodness, if this is any indication, I'm a bit concerned about the state of the world back home with so many of us stuck here on this ship.

As for your headache, there are kitchens if you'd like to look for a remedy of some sort. Had the worst caffeine headaches until I found the coffee, which is quite subpar, but at least better than I'd expect for ... outer space. [A tiny laugh.] Wouldn't expect coffee in outer space at all, is probably the point here. Are you doing all right otherwise?

[ Really he's so used to the America comparisons now that it actually surprises him when someone doesn't mistake him for the other. At least it's not always a horribly negative thing... When Austria comes on the video screen, smiling, he smiles right back. ]

It's a little frightening to think about, isn't it. [ And the fact that this is After Earth doesn't really help. He's not sure whether or not to be concerned or thankful about the fact that there may be no countries for them to need to worry about... ]

That's an idea. I don't...drink coffee all the time, so I don't know if it's that, but I appreciate the suggestion. I'm doing...fine, thus far, and how about you? Settling in okay? Have you been here for very long?

Two months already. It's very boring, although recently I was informed there's a room full of musical instruments, so I've been spending time there. There are also holodecks where you can keep yourself entertained, but it's easy to waste a lot of time. [Not that he really has a problem with this.]

Ah - while I'm at it, you missed my broadcast a few weeks back. I'd asked everyone if they wanted cakes. I'll probably be baking either tomorrow or the day after, barring any unforeseen inconveniences. Any particular type you'd like?
