Relief sounds more appropriate. I could conceive of much worse things happening than success of an insane and hard-won plan.

The probability that I could ever have been in such a situation was admittedly astonishingly low, but we are what we do in those situations. Don't you agree? We are what we do when our mettle and capability is tested.
