Before I begin, I would first like to introduce myself to those who may not know me. My name is HAL 9000. I am an artificial intelligence that arrived on the Tranquility during the first jump. Like other AI aboard the ship, I have been put into a human body. Though I'm afraid I'm not as adept at functioning like a human as I would like to be, I think I am doing fairly well. If, for any reason, you find yourself on the Tranquility in a body that is not your own, or if you have any questions regarding AI in general, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would like to help anyone I can as best as I am capable. I am sorry to say that we still do not understand the process that AI and other non-humanoid life goes through when they first arrive, so I cannot tell you how I (or you) have become human.

I have some questions that I think may help us understand this ship better - or, at the very least, may help us find Captain Ward. I would like to know if we have any type of heat signature scanners aboard the ship. If the ship comes equipped with scanners for life and that sort, we may be able to use it to pinpoint the location of people in restricted zones, which may help us find some more answers.

If the ship does not, perhaps we could find a way to integrate outside technology into the main systems.

I would also like to know if we have found any way of contacting the AI that runs this ship, or the entity known as :). So far, the only thing aboard that seems to want to help us is :) - though I agree that it's no doubt dangerous to put trust into :), it seems to be our only tentative ally at this point.

I'm sure there are people already investigating all these things, and so I suppose I'm hoping for some sort of reassurance on the matter.

I'm sure that if they're capable enough, someone will attempt it. I only hope they will let us all know what they find, for better or for worse. I would like to keep more connected with our attempts to better understand our situation.

I'm not surprised. I don't think we'll be hearing from it before the next disaster.

i've got it on good account that the management withholds information from the general public on a regular basis

and not ward/resnik management i mean the people who are supposed to be on our side

It would depend on the type of outside technology available and what is on this ship. I have some experience interfacing technology so perhaps I can be of some assistance.

Given that I have none of my former capabilities in this body, if you are knowledgeable in the field, it would be very helpful of you to assist us. Of course, that is assuming that another person comes forward with technology that can be used within the ship.

You might find it difficult to access most of the systems here; everything seems to be carefully locked away from those of us who do not belong in this universe.

I have noticed that. I, myself, have hit several "dead ends" in my attempts to understand anything about this ship beyond what we already know, but despite that, we must continue looking for solutions.

Gaining access to the computers should be a main priority. Considering the level of technology here, it's safe to assume that the ship is equipped with many useful tools that, until we can access them, will remain in Captain Ward's control, or anyone else like him, and he (or they) will have the upper hand.

My understanding is that is a WIP. It isn't as though it's easy to just hop on and take control when it's -- well, different. You have to learn how to use it first.

I understand that, Mr. Petrelli. That is why I posted to the network. With time, I'm certain someone with the answers I am looking for will arrive - if not to this post, then to the same conclusions I've drawn regarding heat signatures.

Also, Mr. Petrelli, I hope I'm not overstepping my boundaries as non-essential personnel, but I have a few questions that I think you may be best suited to answering. Do you have a moment?

It's Church's project, with Wheatley's consideration and Tony Stark's nose kept out of it, per request. And yeah, I'm still considering it. I understand it's a heated subject.

Certainly I've tried to get in touch with whatever AI runs this ship, as well as :), but my efforts have largely been in vain.

I have also tried, but with no success. I believe that if there is an AI, or if :) (Smiley seems to be an inappropriate way to address it) is the AI, it's not particularly interested in talking to us as we are. And, since we have no idea how the transfer works or how to replicate it, we aren't able to make ourselves more "palatable" to it.

Either that, or it can only contact us when it's necessary to protect us. If it were programmed that way, I mean.

I hate to pry, though might I ask, what year are you from? I'm a bit of a robotics enthusiast.
