Hi, I am looking for a really good person to be a best friend for my good friend, orange Dave! He's an asshole but he's pretty nice, and he has lots of friends like me and Rose and Jade, but one of his bestest friends died a long time ago, and it is really hard to be good enough. So I am taking applications for a new best friend for him. Rose and Jade don't have to apply, but you can if you want! And the rest of you can go meet him yourself later, but he's really nice.

[ And it switches to text. ]

Yeah, it's totally stupid. I don't really think that! I mean, if there was another John, we'd have the best sleepovers. But Dave thinks that. [ stabbing his ice cream emptily, he is not really eating anymore ]

Is there something I can do that can make him realize that?

[ She puts down her own spoon. ] I don't know that there is. Just keep being you, John. It's something you're good at. And maybe if he sees that you're the same to the other Dave as you are to him, and that you don't belong to anyone, he'll understand.

[zoosmell]

Yeah... I think you're right and stuff, but it's still hard. But I don't really know if I'm treating him right or anything, because I think Dave and Dave are like... I dunno, you and Jade! You wouldn't get mad if I invited Jade with us to eat ice cream for dinner.

But I think Dave would seriously get upset.

[godseer]

You're doing fine. Though, again, I might refrain from the network posts singling him out.

And I've told him to talk to you. That should definitely be a thing that happens.

[zoosmell]

Oh, wow, Rose! You are so hip! You are so happenin' right now, I can't keep up. But we're doing this, and we're so making it happen.

... Thanks, Rose. It must be such a big pain in the butt to deal with us, but you know everything and you know how to make it right.

I find the endeavor worth slightly bruised bottoms. When and if I cease to, I'll let you know.

[ She inclines her head to the door. ] If I had to guess, I'd say he may be ready to talk to you now.

Okay! [ leaping out of his seat so quickly that his chair topples over thanks john it's not like you left your house a mess ] Thanks, Rose! I will go talk to him and everything will be okay, even if Dave is totally a butt. [ and so he exits- ]

[zoosmell]

[- and then comes back immediately to throw himself at her in a huge whopping hug ] Thanks, Rose.

I know I should go, but I just wanted to say that it's really great to see you again in real life person, and you're not grimdark and you're actually alive, because I was afraid you were going to be dead, but I'm glad you are totally alive and well and in smoochy love with all your books.

[ She returns the hug. ] I was worried about the same thing for a while there, John. It's lucky I'd forgotten the way God Tiers work.

[ She pulls away and smiles. ] Go on, you have a feathery friend to face. [ And as he's starting to leave - ]
