You awaken to find yourself in complete darkness, rock hard ground beneath you. You are entirely unharmed and soon discover you are able to move freely through an open space. The only sound that can be heard is the faint dripping of water in the distance, accompanied by its echoes.

[ That's logical, right? ]

> Upset by the light of your flashlight, a bat awakens and flaps about above your head, squeaking and disoriented. What do you do?

/flap around like a crazy person and try to hit the bat.

Obviously.

> Your wild flailing inevitably makes contact and sends the bat flying against the nearest cave wall, killing it upon impact.

Gross. But good. Now where were we?

> The sound of water can still be heard dripping far underneath you. However this time, there is the quiet sound of distant footsteps, moving from one direction to another and then stopping before following the same path in reverse.

/walk toward the footsteps.

> You continue back whence you came, choosing the opposite path.

> Continuing onward, you find yourself heading down into the bowels of the cave. Going further, you begin to see light creeping along the tunnel walls. The tunnel seems to be opening wider as you continue to go lower, even more light spilling along the walls, until you take one more turn. In front of you is another wide open cavern, dimly lit by lanterns.

> The edges of this portion of the cave are still shrouded in darkness, however a pedestal can still be seen in the center of the cave.

> No footsteps can be heard.
