We're aware of the issues revolving around the network presently and are working on fixing the problem of incomplete and fractured messages. I would like you to please bear with us until such a time as the issue is resolved.

Now, we have some experience putting together fractured audio files. A repeated theme we're getting from the devices experiencing this disruption is that their owners are lost. There is...some concern about the elevators, a repeat of the warning that we received while a number of us were confined to stasis. Until further details can be unearthed, I would suggest that anyone who is presently in a safe area of the ship should remain where they are, at least until the situation evolves. If you have lost someone, please report them to us or directly to Security. Do not go looking for them yourselves. I don't need to remind you, but the Tranquility is a big ship, and Security have the resources to find people faster, and with far less risk of becoming casualties themselves.

I repeat: stay where you are. To those who are lost, if you can receive this message in any format, please stay put and wait for retrieval. Keep together, where possible. Petrelli out.

From the Oxygen gardens? [ Nathan shakes his head for a moment. ] There's miles of corridors in the way--from what we can tell, the O2 gardens are practically at the other end of the ship. Walking all the way back could be risky, especially alone.

[ It doesn't take long before Greg's frustrated with sitting around and looking at garbled data. His empathy is utterly unhelpful right now, as all it's really doing is picking up on everyone's stress around him, since he can't get any kind of emotional signal from the network.

The thing is, it's a skill he should be using to its fullest advantage-- to the advantage of everyone on his team, which, if he's honest, is currently people on the ship. He's always been taught that teams succeed when people combine their unique skills. And while he's no strategist, it's clear that he's not making good use of this particular skill. Having kept his abilities a secret till now, he's more than a little unwilling to bring it up, but at the same time, he can't imagine how anyone else will find people out there, short of luck. So he approaches Nathan with a nervous deep breath and a request. ]

I want to go out there. I'm good at finding people-- better at finding people than I am at fixing computers.

[ The communications office is quiet. There's so few of them here, so many missing - Tosh, Lisbeth, the newcomer Chuck. It's a nightmare, and Nathan wants to be out there just as much. When Greg comes over, Nathan gives him a wary smile; a politics smile. It's the same kind he gives when he gets bad press, and they have to try and lessen the impact. ]

I hear you. Trust me, running the conference center isn't exactly my idea of a good time, either. Doesn't seem very heroic, does it?

[Taking a lift from his last shift in Comms didn't go so well.]

I'm lost. Signal interference. Unfamiliar area. Sending multiple messages, better chance of getting through. Please respond if possible.

[He sends the message once, then again; the second one repeats the phrases 10 times in one message. His hope is that the complete form can be pieced together, even if single instances are broken up. He doubts they would all be broken up or truncated in the same place... not if the interference is random, as it seems to be on his end.]

[ At least someone has some sense. Nathan sent out several versions of his message for the same reason. If video doesn't work, there's the chance text will, and then multiple recordings, different versions of words, and in particular choosing words that don't have many variables--these are all important to communicate during an emergency.

Nathan repeats the method, sends it back a dozen times. ]

Exactly what I didn't want to hear. Need field data. Identifying features. Would also like to hear precisely what you were doing when you got lost.

That's one of the theories. There's other possibilities, deliberate or incidental interference, for example. A virus, or mass malfunction, or simply a lack of support for the network wherever they are.

We're working on ways to clean it up.

[ But he's gone, and more things are getting broken in Comms. At the very least, he feels somewhat vindicated that Peter is out fighting the good fight when he can't. Peter has all the powers, after all, and maybe it'll do him some good to expell some of that energy.

Mostly Nathan just wishes he was out there fighting with him. He never asked to be born a desk jockey. ]
