This is Communications.

We're aware of the issues revolving around the network presently and are working on fixing the problem of incomplete and fractured messages. I would like you to please bear with us until such a time as the issue is resolved.

Now, we have some experience putting together fractured audio files. A repeated theme we're getting from the devices experiencing this disruption is that their owners are lost. There is...some concern about the elevators, a repeat of the warning that we received while a number of us were confined to stasis. Until further details can be unearthed, I would suggest that anyone who is presently in a safe area of the ship should remain where they are, at least until the situation evolves. If you have lost someone, please report them to us or directly to Security. Do not go looking for them yourselves. I don't need to remind you, but the Tranquility is a big ship, and Security have the resources to find people faster, and with far less risk of becoming casualties themselves.

I repeat: stay where you are. To those who are lost, if you can receive this message in any format, please stay put and wait for retrieval. Keep together, where possible. Petrelli out.

I'd offer my assistance, but I'm currently in the Oxygen Gardens. Not that I plan to spend the night here.

Is there any way to travel between floors without the elevators? Stairs, perhaps?

From the Oxygen gardens? [ Nathan shakes his head for a moment. ] There's miles of corridors in the way--from what we can tell, the O2 gardens are practically at the other end of the ship. Walking all the way back could be risky, especially alone.

[ oh, hell. but he knows that much already, and he doesn't go out into the ship unarmed, not even to feed the horse. ]

I have my sword. It's not myself I'm worried about.

[ the broken transmissions on the network, however, are spooking him a little. ]

[ All he can do is put her name in to Security and hope something comes of it. It's not safe out there, but he has an example to set.

It hurts, though, to know the danger and be able to do nothing about it. What she actually gets of this message is debatable. ]

I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't tell you to stay put.

But I can't go and help her myself; I got my hands full here. It cuts me up to know she and kids like her are lost out there. You find her, stick with her, you got me?

[ Nothing to see here, just a chance for others in Comms to see Nathan smash a coffee mug with his bare hands. Seraphim is special to him; the first time he spoke to her he'd just arrived, and they talked about his daughter, Claire; someone he hasn't seen since the discovery of the Science Department. They're close to the same age, close in temperament, and once upon a time she'd even come to chapel and played her violin. Nathan considers Seraphim as he would a daughter.

His impulse to fly to the rescue is stronger than it's ever been, but he's stuck here; he has a responsibility to more than just her, and even though it kills him, this is where he's going to stay until he finds a way to cut through that static and clear up the locations of those lost devices. ]

I hear you, Clarke. You're reporting in as lost? Give me a moment.

[ Checking screens, then he's speaking again, aware that they could lose the signal at any moment. ]

Last actions before you got lost? What's the last thing you remember doing?

[He seems to be trying to relay as much information as he can. He sounds mostly calm, but when the signal's clear, there's something on edge about him.]

[ In the lift is recurring. It's in every other message on the network in one form or another, occurs in the deconstruction of the message that they received two months ago and accumulating that information reveals the fact. There's no doubt.

The rest is new. He has to ask again.

Repeat, Clarke. Science department monsters? The creatures are--they're out wherever you are?

[ The urgency makes more sense now, and it adds a sort of anxiousness to the rest of it. People getting lost? No problem. People getting lost somewhere full of monsters that want to eat them? That requires just a little more urgency. ]

Something's up. It does--t feel right.

[The last part, surprisingly, comes in more or less loud and clear, and it's mixed with the on-edge of Isaac's tone and something harder to identify. A curiosity, maybe. Or maybe a certified crazy man being lost in the ship's depths wasn't the greatest thing to ever happen.]

Alright. If they're avoiding you, try not to change that. Don't corner them.

[ Not many words start with those two syllables--avoiding. It's a good word to use in this sort of emergency. Some are harder to pick up. Nathan pauses for a moment, picks up a pen and scrawls down the syllables he hears. It's easier that way. Replaying the message helps, too. ]

Can you go back the way you came? Retrace your steps? If you do find other people, you need to keep them together. This is important, Clarke. Safety in numbers.

[There's heavy footfalls that start to get garbled into the static. It takes another moment for Isaac to speak back up, and the signal's a bit harder to hear now.]

Going deeper in there is only gonna get you hurt.

[ The signal is breaking up. It's a pain in the ass.

Nathan scowls, trying to clean it up, but it's a losing battle, and he recognises that they're approaching the part where they lose contact with each other. Time to get something profound out. ]

Do me a favour, alright? Come back in one piece, and bring as many people as you can back with you. Whatever it is - this bigger thing? - be careful. It doesn't matter as much as coming home safe.

[ It doesn't take long before Greg's frustrated with sitting around and looking at garbled data. His empathy is utterly unhelpful right now, as all it's really doing is picking up on everyone's stress around him, since he can't get any kind of emotional signal from the network.

The thing is, it's a skill he should be using to its fullest advantage-- to the advantage of everyone on his team, which, if he's honest, is currently people on the ship. He's always been taught that teams succeed when people combine their unique skills. And while he's no strategist, it's clear that he's not making good use of this particular skill. Having kept his abilities a secret till now, he's more than a little unwilling to bring it up, but at the same time, he can't imagine how anyone else will find people out there, short of luck. So he approaches Nathan with a nervous deep breath and a request. ]

I want to go out there. I'm good at finding people-- better at finding people than I am at fixing computers.
