[ it's baby's first post! the feed turns on to show a young lady staring down at her communicator with a look that is both one of pure wonderment and confusion. she runs her finger down the screen only to startle a little. her eyes widen then squint as she reads the screen's display. her lips press together tightly for a moment before her teeth worry her bottom lip.

then she seems to realize something and she almost drops the device in her surprise.]

Oh! Um-- Hello? Is it-- Do I speak now? [ she looks up before she looks down and gives another sheepish smile.] Hello. I'm Guinevere. But I go by Gwen. I apologize, I am still learning how to use this... communicator? [ she says it as though she's not sure that's what it's called. after moment, she pauses, her expression awkward suddenly when she realizes that she needs to ask a question, perhaps a worrisome one.

so she just looks sympathetic, a tight lipped, 'sorry-for-any-inconvenience' sort of expression. ] I wanted to ask... what manner of creatures have been attacking? [ as in what did do they look like and how can she avoid them? ]

[he heaves a heavy sigh, and shakes his head.]

Is it that obvious? Only how can I help myself. I mean, for starters, as it's fate, I really seriously can't help myself--but even if it weren't, I think it'd be difficult to resist. That is to say, you would be.

[ oh, sirius, she's fated to be the once and future queen, don't you know? ]

I have a feeling that you have trouble helping yourself with more women than just me, Sirius. [ yep, she teasing you. ]

[oh he knows. or... suspects. but look even queens have a history before the once and future bit of that, right, and even queens like to have a good time.... there's always a chance.]

[he makes a gesture, shhhh, and again, shakes his head.]

I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about, miss. Unless you meant to say that I've been known to help more women than just you, because yeah, that's true. But only out of chivalrous duty and-- [this is really more of a James Potter angle, but he can play the part] --miscellaneous chivalry, actually, let's just call it that. This is different.

This situation is different? [ the 'how' is implied here. she's a bit on to you, sir, but she's still playing along because she does support chivalry and would never want to dissuade a true attempt. ]

Very different. I mean, well, there's chivalry to this as well, of course. But there's the fate aspect that we have to consider; that changes rather a great deal. That goes beyond chivalry. That makes this a matter of personal interest.

[ she smiles, almost surprised at that answer. ] I see. [ a part of her wants to mention arthur, feels as though she should. but can she here? ]

I suppose it can't hurt to meet.

Couldn't hurt at all! [less serious and dire, more chipper now, he grins at her, pleased with her answer.] Just so you can see for yourself, miss. So where shall this auspicious event take place, eh? There's always the spacebar, have you done that yet? Or the gardens, lovely and green and full of weird creatures--

[a beat, as if something has just occurred to him--and here he'd lean a little closer if they were in person--]

Quick question, miss. You are from Camelot, aren't you?

Well, I've been to the gardens but only for a bit. Prince Arthur keeps his horse there---[ everyone's trying to take her to the spacebar. ]

Yes, I am.

[clearly that means you should go to the spacebar Gwen]

Ooh, yes, I saw that horse, and Prince Arthur, too, trying to give it a wash in the showers. Bless him. [and his grin goes a bit more mischievous when she confirms his suspicions. brilliant.] Shall we check on his horse for him, miss? Lady? What do I call you, anyway, I'm not sure how your titles go--

[ his mischievous smile gives her pause.] I'm not a Lady nor do I have any standing in the court. You can just call me Gwen. [ she's uncomfortable suddenly with the idea of titles. for all that she's not ashamed of who she is, of the work she does, it's because of both that she can't be with who she wants to be.]

As for Arth-- Prince Arthur's horse, I think Merlin takes good care of him.

[sorry, he can't keep the tiny note of indigence from his voice at that. wrong, wrong, wrong. he will definitely have to find this horse now, if only for Merlin's sake.]

Then we can help Merlin out. It's not fair that he has to do that all himself, is it--I mean, horses can't be easy to take care of, especially not in space, he doesn't deserve all of that work for himself-- are you really not a lady! It's just that you're so lovely--but then you've got to hear that all the time, right?

[ hey, she doesn't know about merlin's powers, after all. ]

They aren't terribly difficult and I've been helping him some of the time. [ of course, when he asks after her title] I'm a lady's maid to the Lady Morgana. [ or she was until Morgana disappeared.]

[what is wrong with history, Sirius thinks to himself. either this version of Camelot is flipped turned upside-down or else history has been wrong all along. Merlin a servant, Guinevere a lady's maid to Morgana--Arthur a prat--weird, all of it, definitely weird.]

Which explains why you've been helping, I s'ppose. But look, let's do it as a surprise then. Also I dunno that I've ever seen a proper regular horse for any amount of time. I can't remember if I have or not. Would you seriously deny me what might be my only chance to see a proper regular horse!

Only when it was going into the showers--or not going into the showers, really, let's be honest. I'm from a city, miss, we haven't got things like horses.

[or if they do, they're overlarge. or really tiny. or half horse, half man. or unicorns. no regular Muggle horses!]

Yeah, but it's standing around in the gardens. Anyone could go and have a look at it, it's not as if he has it behind a velvet rope or locked door or anything. And it's just looking. [and the chores bit, and the helping Merlin bit--but he doesn't add that; she could just forget about all of that!] If I leave my dog tied up somewhere, I don't charge fees for people to look at him. Are you sure it's something that needs permission?

If we're going to do something other than look at him, then yes, I'd think we should ask.

Oh, yeah, we could do that. The spacebar is brilliant, if you've not been. And--I mean, I don't mind asking, of course, it's not as if I'd be opposed to asking. I would do it. [though hang on. a tad suspicious, now:] D'you think I wouldn't, because I would. I'd get written permission.
