It is. First thing I turned into.

Tell me about it?

Well, shapeshifting for the first time is actually super uncomfortable. It's painless and almost instant for me now, but it takes a hell of a lot of concentration and it feels really weird when you first start.

But being able to hear and smell the way a tiger does, or feeling how strong a horse is... feeling water go through your gills or flying, it's... there's nothing else like it.

[ She smiles. ] First thing I turned into was a blue jay. First thing I did was manage to get myself airborne long enough to sit on Coyote's shoulder and pull his hair with my beak.

Tell me about flying?

It's only falling without hitting the ground until you get used to it. It's work, sometimes -- other times you can glide, let the thermals push you up and soar. You can see everything.

You know how you feel almost weightless when you go swimming? Imagine that, but the view's better and your lungs aren't going to explode if you don't breathe. When the weather's nice, when no actual birds try to pick on you... it's amazing.

Swimming's great, too. Being an otter is one of my favorites for swimming.

River, usually. One of the smaller ones, not the fuck-large South American ones.

We had those near where I grew up. I always liked them.
