[ Good morning, Tranquility. If you hadn't been down to the hangar deck yet then over Hotspur's shoulder you're getting a glimpse of what it's like. A cavernous space, designed much in the same style as the rest of the ship, full of thick shadows and plenty of dead air space stretching out towards the elevator platforms. It's largely deserted – Hotspur has a bad habit of working the night hours, regardless of however creepy it is down there – except for the sleek hulks of shuttles in various states of disrepair. Post-jump, Hotspur looks animated, excited; he knows each jump is getting them a little closer to where they need to be – and if it's bringing in new potential crewmembers then all the better. ]

Hey, crew. How are we all doing? I know a whole bunch of you have had friends and family from back home turn up in the latest jump so I just wanted to check in – have we had anyone from Midgard Corps turn up? [ He's hopeful; gods, he's so freaking hopeful, it's written all over his face. ] Anyone from the Asgardreid? Hell, if there are any kind of pilots brought in from the new jump from anywhere it'd be good to have you down in the hangar decks. Flight engineers, too. We got a whole load of busted birds down here and I reckon we'd be doing a world of good if we got 'em all fixed up and flight ready. If anyone's interested then take the purple elevators and come find me – Hotspur. I'm filling in as flight officer until the rest of the old crew returns.

[ Yeah, crew returns. That's exactly what he believes is going to happen here. And then, because he really wasn't paying attention to the creepy door while he was busy being disappointed at the stowaways: ]

Talking of which, did anyone figure out who wrote 'hello' on that door?

He starts to type Of Yggdrasil (duh) but then quickly erases it. ]

But you spoke of Midgard, and of Asgard, correct? [ He wasn't just hearing things? ]

Hello. I'm afraid we weren't able to. I wish Sherlock came with us instead of going wherever; he perhaps would have found. I think I'll have to drag either one there. Or both.
Anyway, I'm still interested in helping you, despite not being either kind of people you're looking for.

[ Hotspur's brow creases slightly; he must be missing something here because that didn't quite make sense. ]

Either one? What do you mean?

The latest jump brought us a second Sherlock Holmes, from an earlier time period than the first.
They've already started to team up. I don't know yet in what.

[ There's a flatness in Oxford's voice, a sort of tired boredom directed at Hotspur's more optimistic thoughts. He clearly does not have the same expectations as the good pilot does. ]

Until the old crew returns? [ A pause, dripping with absolute disbelief. ] What a charming thought.

[ Oxford's pessimism bounces straight back off Hotspur who lifts his chin with a shrug. ]

We have no idea where they are, right? There's no need to expect the worst.

[ There's a huff of lacklustre laughter. ]

Actually, I believe that's every reason to expect the worst, my dear fellow. The entire crew of a spacecraft should not go missing, only to be replaced by some mismatched, bleary eyed individuals from varying dimensions and universes.

On the door? What door?

The... door. Y'know. [ Hotspur frowns and gestures vaguely. ] When we stopped at Tansei there was a door at the end of one of the broken elevators. It had this writing on it, just saying 'Hello' with a smiley face... [ He trails off, shrugging helplessly; he has absolutely no idea what to make of it. ]

[ unlike a certain telepath, tony is going to hold his pessimism (realism, really) in check and not say anything about the whole "old crew maybe not coming back". he's currently in a lift, which should tell you something, hotspur, and tony will be ashamed if you don't get it. ]

Last I checked, no, unless someone knows and hasn't said a single thing about it. Which isn't the farthest leap to make. [ there's a pause before he continues. ] But, then again, I was indisposed when it was found, I think, so there's that issue. [ ...nice way to say you were stowed away, tony. nice. ]

[ yeah, you better believe Hotspur's eyeing that lift. Is that a hint of purple he sees in the interior? Excellent news. Still, Hotspur puts on his best attempt at a mock-serious face as he impassively replies: ]

Indisposed, yeah, I remember you telling me. See, that's what happens when you go and make yourself indisposed; you miss all the exciting stuff.

There aren't any bodies, no sign of a struggle. An entire ship's company doesn't desert on a whim cause military people don't do that. Hell, they could still be in the ship somewhere. It's big enough. There's every chance they could come back.

There's a lift at the end of the first passenger deck that leads to a locked door that's got a message written on it: just 'hello' with a smiley face. Nobody know who wrote it.

[ So much for keeping it secret. Chase is visibly annoyed at something, though--probably the door thing--but just as quickly as it appears on her face it's gone. ]

The door.

[ She shakes her head. ]

No one's mentioned they were from where you mentioned, sir. Apologies.

No worries, Chase. I'll give it a few more days before I give it up, there might be a few more stragglers working their way through the network transmissions....

[ Now, Hotspur likes Chase - she's a sweet thing, innocent without being naive and clever enough to make him feel like he's half of her age - so it's with some considerable consternation that he notices that fleeting glimpse of annoyance on her features. He's a people person at heart; he can't help but pick up on the emotional cues of those he likes or cares for. ]

But, yeah, that door. Only seen it a little bit myself but it's just plain weird. Did you get much of a look at it?
