[ Abby's kept clear of the network despite having been on Tranquility for a month - partly because being social on a death ship wasn't her first priority, partly because most of her questions could be easily answered by Connor.

But if there's anything that can make her come out of her shell, it's animals. Animals and dinosaurs, which apparently exist here (at least the one does). The feed opens on her face, but the gardens are easily visible behind her. ]

This is Abby Maitland with the theoretical zoology department. [ She sounds only mildly aggrieved, mostly friendly. ]

Is there an official system for tracking the animals loose in the gardens? The ecosystem has managed fine thus far, but we might want to be more careful about interfering with it unchecked. I'm not even sure what some of these animals are eating. [ Hello, Myfanwy. ]

Enclosures might not be a bad idea either. I hate to lock anything up, but it would be in everyone's best interest if we can easily find them during emergencies - theirs included.

[ She's not moving, so that should make it easier. Too busy digging around in the dirt a bit, checking out the soil - or the bugs in it, more specifically. ]

Those are extinct where I'm from. [ As if that matters. ] I've always wanted to see one, though.

I do. Rare animals were my job back home, though I specialize more in lizards. [ This is the most vague and inaccurate description ever, but it sounds legit enough. ]

You mean one's missing in the gardens? Did it come here with anyone?

She's with you, then? [ More of a figurative than literal 'with you'. Abby doesn't usually think of animals in terms of ownership. ]

No. But she's looked after. + controlled. They wouldn't like you trying to track her. Tyke. Head of SEC.

I'm sure everyone's safe from the animals, they've done just fine so far. But we were working on a more accurate system for tracking the people here, might not hurt to sort one out for the animals too. Who's 'they'?

Not everyone's going to be okay with being tracked. If there was a threat I'd deal with it. They want to tell you, they will.

[She doesn't get quite why the Starks are being particularly weird about Nymeria, but she isn't going to flip the lid on it without their word.]

Not live tracking for people. Lists of current passengers and previous ones. And I'll keep my ears open, then.

She's controlled + looked after. Not going to hurt anyone. Not starving or neglected. She's safe.

Soon enough, though, she should hear fast-paced bootfalls coming her way, and once he catches sight he shoves his device into his pocket.]

[ She's still crouching down near the base of a tree when she hears the footsteps, but she doesn't look too startled when she glances his way. She doesn't recognize him, but that's not surprising considering how much of a recluse she's been.

She wipes her hands off on her trousers as she stands. She wasn't expecting to run into anyone here, but the reluctant greeting is friendly enough. ] Heya. You looking for someone?

[But he says it like it's a side note, and he's halfway to pulling out a cigarette when he figures that he should attempt diplomacy. So he shoves it back and holds out his hand.]

[That's not even him trying to play it off all casual; he really doesn't care for titles all that much. And okay maybe he's still pissed at Resnik.]

[ Now that is slightly surprising. She hadn't expected someone to track her down when she made the open call, but she doesn't hesitate to accept his offered hand in a short, casual shake - only after she's wiped her hands off a bit more thoroughly, though. ]

Abby, but - I guess you already know that. You're in charge of the gardens?

[The guy is down here at least nine hours a day, every day - if it's a location on the first two levels he knows it. And she sounds smart. Interested. Possibly useful, or at least helpful. Plus he fucking hates using the network when he can just meet face-to-face (and get the opportunity to judge a person on their handshake).

It's good enough for him.]

[ Right, very charming. Luckily she's used to dealing with professionals and politicians who have the personality of a rock, so she doesn't take issue with the blunt reply. Business is business. ]

From what I'm hearing the unofficial system has been working well enough - owners mostly tending to their own animals. Have there been any problems on your end?

[Oh-so-charming... He doesn't even bother with a reply, mostly because he thinks that kind of thing is bullshit. His hands go right to his pockets and his front teeth to his lower lip.

Problems? Yeah. Unresolved problems?]

Depends. [He's so talkative.] Got a good solution?

[ She just smiles at that, because- ] Usually helps to have some specifics when you're working out solutions.

Do you get along with the animal owners? [ She's skeptical, but she's seen weirder PR pan out. ]

[Yeah he's glaring at that smile so, so hard.]

I'd rather know what y'can do, first.

[What those solutions might be, he means. And... yep, he's completely ignoring her inquiry. He gets along with some of them... and is very reluctant to admit that he doesn't know who the hell owns the direwolves.]

[ Weathering the glare like a pro, and staying good-natured in spite of it. And, yeah, might just slightly feisty. ] Tracking and catching dinosaurs, mostly. The ones we couldn't send back to their homes, we kept in safe environments - I helped run them.

[ Normally this would all be top secret, but she's not going to waste time on that. They're in space, it's hardly going to get back to the Daily Mail. ]

I've also got some experience with wilderness survival, though considering the lack of predators and abundance of kitchens, I'm not sure that's relevant.

Mm. Dunno if the Myfanwy needs t'be tracked. It's, uh. [He bites his lip and tries to think of how to explain it.] Ianto has it trained. Mostly.

[Shrug.]
