[ Abby's kept clear of the network despite having been on Tranquility for a month - partly because being social on a death ship wasn't her first priority, partly because most of her questions could be easily answered by Connor.
But if there's anything that can make her come out of her shell, it's animals. Animals and dinosaurs, which apparently exist here (at least the one does). The feed opens on her face, but the gardens are easily visible behind her. ]
This is Abby Maitland with the theoretical zoology department. [ She sounds only mildly aggrieved, mostly friendly. ]
Is there an official system for tracking the animals loose in the gardens? The ecosystem has managed fine thus far, but we might want to be more careful about interfering with it unchecked. I'm not even sure what some of these animals are eating. [ Hello, Myfanwy. ]
Enclosures might not be a bad idea either. I hate to lock anything up, but it would be in everyone's best interest if we can easily find them during emergencies - theirs included.

I trust the system's worked well enough so far in terms of safety. Just wondering if we shouldn't establish something more official, considering how they seem to be multiplying with the jumps. [ And frankly she has no idea how nothing's gone wrong so far. ]
audio;
[ Jaye you can't just casually tell people that. ]
Oh, and there are birds, I think -- other than my chickens and the turkey. No idea what they're doing.
audio;
[ Time travel and dinosaurs, totally normal. Shapeshifters? That'll take some time to process, but she doesn't want to be rude about it, so she casually moves on. ]
The ones we've got no idea about are what I'm concerned with. If it was just trees and bugs initially, it'd be easy to derail the system by introducing anything new. Could interfere with oxygen production down the line.
audio;
[ Heeheehee. ]
Not just trees. All sorts of plants. But we've heard it all before and I've been on the animal owner side and the Ag staff side.
audio;
[ Totally going to ask Connor about the shapeshifter thing later. ]
Are the animals restricted to one level, at least? This is obviously the best place for them, I'm just saying we should at least do a better job of keeping track. Not just of them, but whether they're impacting the system at all.
audio;
We tend to put them up anywhere above the first level, since that's where the most sensitive equipment is. The jungle's so damn overgrown up on those levels that honestly, I don't think the current amount of animals is gonna do much. Plus it and the bugs have time to themselves every jump.
audio;
[ After asking she realizes yes, dumb question, but it's more the process itself that's stopped her up. How do you get a pteranodon into a grav couch..... ]
audio;
Except the bugs, they're small enough that they're fine.
[ And she has no idea about the pteranodon, she has enough issues with a cow, three chickens, and a hellhound. ]
audio;
Even more reason to make sure we keep track of them. Wouldn't want any strays to get lost during a jump.

Same - sometimes better than people, honestly. Do you mind if I ask your name?

Jaye.
audio;
Nice to meet you, Jaye. I'll do my best to be a tolerable person in future. And thank you - I appreciate the help.

[ Good first impressions help. ]
I leave the extra milk and eggs from my animals in the fridges. If you find any, help yourself.
