It might be interesting, but language is always changing. I'd think it would be more useful to know how a word is used now, whether it's a colloquialism or not.

dredging up the question of what precisely 'now' entails, of course. can now really be construed as 'now' when people are from a variety of nows and thens? how to tell what language is modern when you've a plethora of examples.

oh, well, neither did i. but that's not to say the english language isn't fascinating in all aspects. you're more of a to the point sort of thing.
