Hullo, Tranquility. Now that we've had a little bit of time to settle in, I have a proposal I want to put to you. I know I'm awfully new here, but it seems like something that needs doing.

I know everyone who's been here for even just one jump has made friends, or had friends or family here from home. And it seems pretty inevitable that every jump, some of those people disappear. I also know that sometimes, things happen here on the ship, and we lose people we care about. I don't think the names of those people should be forgotten. Even if they've returned home and are safe there, they were part of the community here. And I think they should be remembered.

So I'd like to put together a memorial wall of sorts. Not for us to mourn at, but a place to keep all the names of the people who are gone, for whatever reason. I can assemble a list, but I'm going to need some help constructing some kind of display. And...to be honest, probably some help putting that list together as well.

I'm open to suggestions on where it should be, and what it should look like, too.

Back when Hotspur died we put a memorial to him in the gardens, down near where we've now got our chapel. If you wanted to do something in that sort of area, I'd be much obliged to help out when I'm feeling better. If I ever feel better.

That does seem like the proper sort of place for it. And I'll be glad to have your help. If you'll tell me your friend's last name, he'll be the first one on my list.

It's all right. I think we've all been on edge more than usual. I probably shouldn't have burst into the conversation like I did. Besides, you're the one who gave me the idea for a memorial, so really I should be thanking you.

My brother's name. Peter Petrelli. Hotspur needs to be on your list too. He died to get us that recording that gets posted around here every Jump. Others from my home who've been here and vanished are Isaac Mendez, Claire Bennet, Elle...Bishop, I think her last name was, and Sylar, though frankly I can't think that anyone would or even should mourn him. Good riddance.

We can't all be loved. But I think we all deserve to be remembered just the same.

He's difficult to forget. How do you forget someone who almost caused the death of seven million people? Who personally murdered more by their own hands, whose only prerogative was slaughter? A monster. I understand your motivation. I just can't help but think that in his case it's wrong. He doesn't deserve it.

I can't be the one who judges whose crime is bad enough to merit oblivion and whose is mild enough to be forgiven. And I don't think there's anyone here who has that right. All the names go up, and people can memorialize or not as they like.

It's fine, I thought you might insist. More concise that way anyway. Just make sure his name is a damn long way from the others, and if I die, do the same courtesy for me.

I had thought the easiest thing would be to organize by number. I know you're opposed to the idea of people becoming numbers, but I think they're a part of our time here, and it isn't as though their names won't be there. I'm open to other suggestions, though.

So long as the names are there too, although it'd end up being grim if we start reusing numbers. I don't suppose you considered alphabetically? But I guess that would need constant work to keep it in order. Numbers make more sense, much as I hate to admit it.

Oh. I hadn't thought about numbers being reused. Does that happen? Alphabetically is probably best if that's the case. I'm hoping I work it out with whoever volunteers to help with construction to make it a programmable display. Much easier to update that way.

Why do I sort of get the feeling that you don't ever really like admitting to things you disagree with?

Honestly I have no idea. It might come to that. Hell, soon as we hit twelve we might reset back to one again. You'd have to ask someone more in the know than me. Does anyone? Even if I am wrong, it takes a lot of hard work to get me to admit it. Got it from my father, I'm disgusted to say.

I'll try and check around, maybe some of the people who've been here since the beginning will know.

I find that difficult to believe. I found you pretty eloquent, actually. If I hadn't been in such a lousy mood maybe you'd have had it easier.

I don't normally just burst into people's conversation like that. Nice of you to say so, though. Don't blame you at all for for being in a mood, we all were. I just got a bit protective of Ianto, and probably could have been more polite about it.

We all get protective of the people we love, especially around here. I would never condemn you for that. I hope we can endeavour to work better with each other.

I was told by Captain Kirk that you were the man to speak with if I wanted to work in Communications. I figure since it's exactly the sort of thing I do back home, minus the outer space part, I could be useful. Why, what sort of job would you choose for me?

Nothing more dead-end on this ship than communications, but it lets you know what's going on 24 hours a day. I have enough spare time to be learning to fly the shuttles. Seriously we'd love the help. We're almost more underhanded than any section on the ship, and getting our asses handed to us by anons and encryptions on the network. People who think they can just cause dissent wherever they want. I'm sorry about the text--I'm not feeling so great, otherwise I'd take you down and show you around. Spock helped set us up a Comm control center, and it's a bit of a mess but you'd probably feel right at home. It was frankly never my specialty.

Sounds right up my alley. I can handle real-time monitoring, data analysis, and any sort of encryption help you need. I'd put my work up against any hacker you could produce. And having extra spare time sounds perfect -- I've plans to do some research in engineering.

Don't apologize, I'm sorry I've kept you talking so long. I'll come by the control center and see if I can fit myself in, and when you're feeling better you can tell me about anything you think I ought to know.
