Hullo, Tranquility. Now that we've had a little bit of time to settle in, I have a proposal I want to put to you. I know I'm awfully new here, but it seems like something that needs doing.

I know everyone who's been here for even just one jump has made friends, or had friends or family here from home. And it seems pretty inevitable that every jump, some of those people disappear. I also know that sometimes, things happen here on the ship, and we lose people we care about. I don't think the names of those people should be forgotten. Even if they've returned home and are safe there, they were part of the community here. And I think they should be remembered.

So I'd like to put together a memorial wall of sorts. Not for us to mourn at, but a place to keep all the names of the people who are gone, for whatever reason. I can assemble a list, but I'm going to need some help constructing some kind of display. And...to be honest, probably some help putting that list together as well.

I'm open to suggestions on where it should be, and what it should look like, too.

[OOC: The memorial wall has mod approval. If your character is interested in helping ICly with either maintaining the list or constructing the memorial, please let Tosh know. I wouldn't mind an extra hand keeping track of things OOCly either, so if you're interested in that, please either PM me at this journal, or ping my plurk at [plurk.com profile] verylittlesugar.]

The gardens. It should be in the gardens, I think.

Back when Hotspur died we put a memorial to him in the gardens, down near where we've now got our chapel. If you wanted to do something in that sort of area, I'd be much obliged to help out when I'm feeling better. If I ever feel better.

And I'm sorry about the other day.

My brother's name. Peter Petrelli. Hotspur needs to be on your list too. He died to get us that recording that gets posted around here every Jump.

Others from my home who've been here and vanished are Isaac Mendez, Claire Bennet, Elle...Bishop, I think her last name was, and Sylar, though frankly I can't think that anyone would or even should mourn him. Good riddance.

He's difficult to forget. How do you forget someone who almost caused the death of seven million people? Who personally murdered more by their own hands, whose only prerogative was slaughter? A monster.

I understand your motivation. I just can't help but think that in his case it's wrong. He doesn't deserve it.

It's fine, I thought you might insist. More concise that way anyway. Just make sure his name is a damn long way from the others, and if I die, do the same courtesy for me.

So long as the names are there too, although it'd end up being grim if we start reusing numbers. I don't suppose you considered alphabetically? But I guess that would need constant work to keep it in order.

Numbers make more sense, much as I hate to admit it.

Honestly I have no idea. It might come to that. Hell, soon as we hit twelve we might reset back to one again. You'd have to ask someone more in the know than me.

Does anyone? Even if I am wrong, it takes a lot of hard work to get me to admit it. Got it from my father, I'm disgusted to say.

[ she might have just lit up for a second at this whole text. ]

i'm an architect back home.
so i'm honestly more than willing to help there.
though, i would be interested in seeing how lasers could be incorporated.

[ it's a joke, but trying to convey that via text isn't always the easiest thing to do. ]

Excellent! I'm Ariadne by the way.
And to be honest, lasers on the wall would be an interesting concept - we are in space after all.

[ Clearly she is joking - to a point. Because the idea might actually be running through her mind now on where they could actually add supports to make it work. ]

I'm new, so I'm not sure how much help I'll be... still getting my bearings. But let me know if you need anything.

Just be careful how far you pry. This place isn't exactly big on people asking questions. [ Or tinkering in places they shouldn't be. ]

I'm good. [ That's a lie, but Mason's skilled enough to pull it off more or less flawlessly. ] As good as anyone can be on SS Deathtrap, anyway.

Likewise, Toshiko. :)

And to be honest, I'm not entirely sure, because that's a bit more sci-fi then what I would be use to. But I'm betting, if we have the means to do it. We can honestly design something to accommodate that part.

By the way, I'm pretty sure, I can convince a few others to help build it - manual labor and what not.

[ yep, her mind is running a mile a minute on just what they might be able to design now. and she already has a list of a few people she could get to help as well. ]
