[ Carolyn is sitting in her room instead of lurking around the shuttle bay for once. The reason why should be clear after a few minutes, when an orange tabby pokes his head out from behind her before plopping himself on her lap. Carolyn honestly just looks like she has no idea what to do for a moment before reaching to scratch him behind the ears, speaking to the camera as she does. ]
Some of you might recognize this cat as Jones, who belongs to Ellen Ripley. For those of you who knew her, it appears that she's gone home. I'll be looking after him for her.
[ Still petting the cat, she clears her throat. ]
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Carolyn Fry. On the Tranquility I'm part of the flight crew, but back home I was a pilot and captain of a merchant ship -- a spaceship. As a result, I've been helping people out with basic skills to work on in space. Last month we held a training session on health, fitness, nutrition, shuttle procedures, and basic evacuation. In the case that either myself or Ripley vanished and to keep a copy for anyone who wasn't able to make it or wasn't on the ship, we recorded the session.
[ A link pops up, opening an area on the network that contains a brief description of the session and a link to the video. ]
I'll be posting the videos of future sessions in this spot, if everyone would like to keep an eye on it and update their information posts, that sort of thing. If you have any questions, about this or anything else, feel free to ask.

I need a drink. You in?
[ locked to FLIGHT CREW ]
We should all get together.

[ Sure enough, another pause. ]
The ship seems to be divided between following him unquestioningly and wanting him to go fuck himself, to be honest.

Considering the records, that's not entirely surprising. There's a bit of a reputation for 'cowboy diplomacy.'

[ Carolyn shrugs. ] I like him, but honestly, the divide is... troublesome. We have enough problems on board.

[Okay biting his tongue. Needs to stop letting damaging information slip.]
...Well, you're right. Divided loyalties can be a big problem.

People come from different times here. The only other person from my world is five years after I am.
[ Which admittedly could be because she's dead back home, but still. ]
There have been accusations of withholding information as well -- I don't know all of it. Honestly, I'm just worried it's going to get someone killed.

If it makes you feel any better, everyone who's gone home and come back says they didn't remember this while they were home.

I suppose to a certain extent, the cat's out of the bag.

Yeah. I told the man who invented faster-than-light travel in my timeline some of the impact his work would have on humanity's development. How I'd memorized his designs, even though they were centuries old. Graduated from a school named after him. That there was a statue.
The reason we'd been helping him was because someone else had already interfered with the course of events, and he needed the assistance to carry things off as they were supposed to go.
I was trying to be encouraging.

Did it work out okay?

...After we chased him down through some woods.

Well, I'm glad it turned out.

[ And another pause. ]
... You don't happen to know much about cats, do you?

[Probably shouldn't be too surprised by that turn of conversation, but he is.]
My family kept one when I was younger, but I wouldn't say I knew a great deal about them.

[ Jones yawns from his spot on her lap, tail flicking. ]
Earth creatures are pretty rare out where I'm from, unless you've got a decent amount of money. I picked up some things from his owner before she disappeared, but now I'm not too sure what I'm doing with him.
