[ on flips the feed, and the sleeve of someone's jumpsuit is the first thing that is seen. It’s not exactly intentional, just Ariadne attempting to situate herself on the floor of her cabin before she addresses the network properly. ]

Um…I guess I should start by saying; Hi. [ she starts out casually, letting her device finally focus up on her face, as she offers the network a ghost of a smile. ] I know some of you don't exactly know me – which happens – it's a big ship. [ a beat, her hand going to the back of her neck as she unconsciously starts to rub it, quickly thinking out her next few words. ] But I've been here…going on ten months, maybe? [ she's honestly not exactly sure the exact time frame anymore, but whatever it is now, it's been a long ass time and she feels like she can at least say something about things now. ]

Anyway... [ she sighs, her head bobbing slightly as she lets out a small hum at her next few thoughts. ] I know we have security and all – I honestly don't see any reason to change that - but we shouldn’t be expecting them to be looking out for everyone – it's not possible – there's too many of us for that.

So…[ on to the point of her actually even addressing the network. ] has anyone thought about maybe creating floor monitors - people that could honestly focus their attention on the people on their own floors? [ a beat, her nose crinkling slightly ] And no, not someone that pries into everyone's business - just someone that at least would know the goings on with their floors. And yeah I know people have mentioned the buddy system - which is a good idea to a point. But I still think floor monitors might be something we should look into.

I don't know. Maybe this has already been mentioned as a thought. But it just seems like a good idea to know your neighbors.

[ she stops there, again offering the network a faint smile, shrugging a shoulder slightly as she does, figuring if people honestly had thoughts to add or questions, they would. so she doesn't exactly feel the need to expand further on her thoughts here.

but not a second later and another thought occurs to her, and she is adding: ] Also, I'm looking at redoing the maps – adding things and what not – if anyone has anything to offer with that, I'd welcome the help.

The "buddy system" is a bit different - as it stands, that's for jumps only.

I think you've come up with a very good idea for a niche that needs to be filled.

but...] Yeah, your buddy system hopefully can help with people with the jumps, so I give you credit for attempting to make it work.

I just...[ a sigh. ] Too many people have died lately and I want to think having the people watching the floors could help prevent it from happening again. Hopefully people will jump on board with this.

[Libby sounds warm and alert over the audio--ever since mid-month she's felt so much lighter, more alive, and she is genuinely happy to see people working instead of lingering on the past. People disappear and die, but they have to keep going.]

I'm working on emergency plans with Ellen Ripley and Carolyn Fry. If you get some volunteers do you mind if I contact them too? I'm making a thing for after the next Jump. Sort of another organizer. If you want in I don't know what the freak I'm doing, it'd help. A lot.

And I have some map stuff. Mostly figuring alternate routes to the places most people use. Here. [She sends them along as an attachment.] Been trying to build some 'bots for the job, but I'm not a robotics head.

I know that. And I don't think they should stop.
But patrols can't catch everything, so why not try to help where we can, you know?

Our patrols can catch immediate threats (e.g., crimes in progress, evidence of crimes already committed, dangers from damage to the spaceship, etc.) but not slow-developing ones. If we trained these "monitors" to watch out for unusual behavior, states of mind, etc., perhaps it might be possible to avert crises such as the suicide last month.

I think it's a good idea; it will not remotely undermine the security team's authority. Moreover, such a program might foster a sense of community and therefore cooperation.

[ he has some mixed feelings on this. on one hand, he's used to being closely monitored because the gods can check in whenever they want. at camp, they have curfews and cleaning harpies, ones that might eat you if you're out late and rules are in place for a reason. but. ] See, I'm on board. I think knowing your neighbors- most of their comings and goings could be helpful. Knowing each other's names couldn't hurt either.

[ too many nameless people. they're desensitized to anything happening because they're strangers. ]

But I also think the more eyes you throw into it, the more problems people are going to present. Privacy's a big deal on board.

[ she nodded at that, offering him the faintest of smiles. because really, that was all she was hoping for. granted, she knows she can be a slightly private person, but she isn't about to run and hide from someone stuck here just like she is - they're all in the same boat after all. ]

No matter what, I think we all value some form of privacy - and we should respect that.

But... [ a shrug of her shoulder, sighing. ] I honestly think it's about time, that we started to at least try to make the effort in understand everyone on board.

I don't know. I've been here going on ten months and I still only know a handful of people on my floor.

Some of the halls don't even have that many people anymore. It'd be more of a Tupperware party than a neighborhood watch. [Sometimes you can only tell when Topher agrees with something by his tone. But yeah, it only seems like a wise move on our parts, if we just tried to get to know each other better, you know? It's not like we need to be voyeurs or anything.
