[ the screen opens up with quiet, sad singing in the background; low, voiceless, and wordless, like church chords to a child's ears. but far from happy. some might recognize it as legolas' voice.

in the center of the screen is frodo, sitting with worn, sad eyes at his feet. around his neck is something not there before, two chains now. one of them is the evenstar, and seems to glow with a faint light.

behind him is a glimpse of gold and muted green, but the elf doesn't say much, not even when frodo speaks up. quietly, over the soft singing, voice heavy. ]
To those that knew them--..Ara--Strider, a great healer on this ship and one of our company has left. Along with him, the Lady Arwen Evenstar.

If I were to know anything of those dear friends, it would be that they would not have you mourn them, for they are bound to home and lands that need their strength.

[ he looks down, staring at the pendant around his neck, smiling faintly, his voice very soft. ]
As they have helped restore mine. I do not know what roads are left to either of us, but I will hope to see them again, when our journeys are done.

[he glances over his shoulder]

Legolas, do you have anything to say?

[legolas does not, in fact, have anything to say. all he does is scoot over and not-so-creepily loom over the frodo's shoulder to peer at the device.... and reach over to shut it off. rood elfs.]

[ooc: frodo and legolas will both be respondin' if you had cr with aragorn or anything like that or idk comment on his lovely singin. ]

[despite his sit-in with Spock the prior night, the news shakes him violently hard. he stares at the device for few long, long moments.

and it's a while before he can finally speak. once he activates the feed, he needs to clear his throat before he can speak:]

[he trails off. even if he's not in the best emotional shape to be assisting people- the offer is there.]

[legolas is dealing well enough. he's more or less the same as when he last spoke to kirk, though his tone does waver slightly this time.]

on a more serious note:] Nothing in particular. But-- ..thank you, I suppose.

[ frodo listens. so the captain was close to aragorn? he imagined many had been like that on the ship. ]

[Yep he sounds vaguely horrified.]

He did, but we have seen neither him nor the Lady this past day. He is not in the gardens either.

We had always assumed he was spending his time in the gardens.

Recently. They have not been responding to hails from this device, and neither have we seen them.

Not for very long. Yet we found him in none of his usual places.

[ he notices that and looks concerned, which only makes him look more drawn and sad. that question surprises him, and a faint smile flickers on his face. frodo isn't particularly hungry. ]
I cannot speak for Legolas but as for myself, I'm not really hungry, Ms. Ross. Thank you for the kind offer.

[ aragorn had told him that he would triumph. that the ring would be destroyed and he would see him crowned. that he would see his friends and cousins again and he would find rest. yet now he is gone, that hope flickers in and out once more, and he glances down at the pendant. ]

I have never met a finer Big Person as I did Strider.
[ he wants to add that he was a king, his name was aragorn. that he sang to him and protected him when they traveled together and that his cousins adored him. but he can't say that. ]
Nor was there any Lady more fair than the Lady Arwen.

[ he offers a small smile. 'alright' is pretty relative for frodo at this point. ]

[ frodo glances up at daenerys, offering a small smile. ]
Hello, Miss. I suppose we never did give our names, did we? Did you know Strider or the Lady Arwen?

[Bran does not know this Legolas (but he must be a friend to Frodo, and so Bran likes him a little more), and he did not know the Lady Arwen--but he knew Strider, and he knows Frodo, and this is sad news because of it. So it is some time before he answers, but eventually...]

[ he looks over at bran, the evenstar shining over his chest. his smile is a little tired. ]

It's alright, Bran. It is better that they are back where they are needed, back in Arda.
