[ the view is black when the feed finally enters video mode, but the sound well. that leaves much to be desired. whatever he's doing to make the communicator make that noise should definitely be illegal.

it's actually kindof. terrifying.

the camera picks up a handful of images of the oxygen garden as it spirals backwards and drops a few feet, sorry to those of you who get motion sick. the communicator comes to an abrupt stop on the ground (the clunk of metal on grass isn't as bad as it could be, but still isn't all that promising) and for a long stretch of moments, you're pretty much stuck looking at a tree trunk.

a stick. s l o w l y turns it over onto it's back, and you get a nice view of the treetops overhead. guys we have a nice oxygen garden, it's really pretty in he- oh wait, nope, you're being rolled back over onto your other side now. silence, and on the other end of the feed, peter is leaning over to listen, which gives you a glimpse of a blond curl at the top of the video, before it's snatched away. WELP. he's satisfied that he's killed it. ]

[heather's attempts to sound stern are somewhat thwarted by the fact that she can't keep a little smile off her face or laughter out of her voice.]

there is a rustling that follows, and while the boy remains off screen, the branches and it's leaves ripple with movement overhead. in the silence that follows however, he wonders if maybe this isn't a strange music box. he's seen them before- the place where ladies hide their jewelry.

no sound reaches the feed when he returns to the ground, but the device is lifted, and finally offers a view of his face.

unfortunately, it's so that he can sniff you. ]

So, what exactly did you do that was clever? [ just going to loudly judge you over here, bro. ]

[ well, it's a far more innocent sound than- pretty much anything else could be.

which has Peter shaking the device, to try and, you know. get the tiny fairy in there out of the box. ]

he does squint down at the feed though, and try to scrub the strange squiggles off of his screen. ]

[Still kind of laughing here.]

[ just watching all of this, cause what- even- what's happening- ]

Uhh. [ why is he smelling it. holy fuck did they manage to get some version of George of the Jungle on this ship? is that what's happening right now? although actually no, wait, cleverness of me. she's just gonna go ahead with the not connecting the dots. because that's easier than coming to terms with what's actually going on right now, holy hell. ]

I can see you, you know. It's- Here, look. [ turning her video feed on; ] It's a communicator. You know, like a walky-talky? But with video. Just hold it out in front of you so that the picture is facing you, you'll see me too.

[ THIS MYSTERIOUS VOICE

his head jerks up, gaze casting wildly around the room to try and find the source, because why would it be coming from this weird thing on the ground, that's just silly. one hand goes to his side, dagger drawn. ]

his curiosity is piqued (not a feat, by any stretch of the imagination) but there is no wariness in the reply. ]

[ his head cants over the feed, then drifts to the opposite shoulder- before he decides that he's given that enough thought. his chin dips forward as a dagger is sheathed at his side. ]

My imagination is much greater than such a small box.

[ excuse you, child. he's seen great things and while maybe that was greatly confusing (and hilarious) it wasn't, you know, special. ] Gotta love modesty, man.

But hey, can't say I've ever heard the device screech like that. Most of us probably never would have figured that out on our own. [ no, that's not really a compliment. ]

Trust me, small boxes can hold wonders. I guess this means you've never seen an iPhone before.

[ that much is actually obvious, but still. ]

[ it's impossible to stay wary for long- not when his patience has never been in great supply and his curiosity has always buoyed above all else. the feed spins once more as Peter settles into a crouch, expression wrinkling, but no less bright as the device is lifted to eye level.

even if he's holding it at arm's length.

but there- just there, he can see her. someone looking back at him. her face, and- his gaze cuts down, around the device. no legs. no the rest of her. ]

How do you fit in there?

[ he won't dignify that with a proper response- there's a whole lot of pride in there for such a small body. ]

[ he jolts backwards and out of sight for a moment, the communicator dropped to the garden floor (lets hope that's covered by warranty) before-

he comes creeping back- his image slowly sliding into view. ]

I ain't really in here. You're just seeing a picture of me from somewhere else.

[Just rolling his eyes and sighing, impatient and half-back to gardening by the time Peter slides back.]

[ who're you calling child, what're you, twelve. you could totally pass as a lost boy.

picking up on the intricacies of sarcasm however, isn't exactly his forte. which means that Peter's expression splits, a wide, cheeky smile fitting itself over his mouth leaving him looking inordinately pleased with himself. ]

[ Peter has never been fond of admitting that there is something he does not know, and it is likely a combination of this and his own inclination to brashness that has him climbing to his feet. the device swings casually in his hand, as disregarded as the not-question. ]

If I have not seen it, I doubt it is very important.
