[It's taken Raven a while to get the courage to talk on the Network, not exactly liking the fact that she didn't know who exactly she was talking to, but whatever. Charles could worry enough for the both of them, and she has questions, regarding her abilities. Plus, she has the distinct advantage of looking like whoever she wants, so. She picks a face she's used before (same coloring as her usual shift, just a brandy new face. and shorter hair. she's always wanted to try shorter hair), and flicks on her device.]

So, this might seem like an odd question, but I was wondering...

Has anyone else been feeling a bit off since they arrived here? Not from whatever they dosed us with to sleep, not that sicky feeling we woke up with, but just. After the fact? Like a noticeable difference in your physical or mental capabilities? [She clears her throat, squints a bit.]

Like me, for instance, I-- [Well, someone didn't think of a pretend mutation to use as an example.] --at home, I could run very fast, extraordinarily fast. Like a cheetah fast. [She makes a face, because this all sounds very stupid right now, she's sure of it.] Meanwhile, here? My whole body seems to feel a little off. I tried to run, but my body is sort of weakened, in a way. I use all my strength to hit the speed I used to be able to, but I can't come close to it.

Has anyone else been experiencing this kind of ..limitation? Or should I be freaking out that whatever they used to knock me out might be having some long-term effects? [Like how right now a sheen of sweat is forming along her brow from the effort it's taking to hold this physical form. Ah.]

And that's good, I don't exactly hope to hear that everyone's been feeling kinda drained. It's weird, feeling this dragged down after getting used to certain standards, you know?

There are humans who claim to have been robots before their arrival here, so it's not so far-fetched.

It could be the same anomaly that's had others change forms.

Superhuman fast? And now you're limited to -- less duration? Less strength? Speed? What?

I haven't exactly tried for distance yet, there aren't a lot of places to run, but I tire much more quickly, and the effort it takes to even hit my full speed is-- It's like my ability to run that fast has been chained down, kinda. I even feel kinda sore after trying to run at my normal speed, and I've never felt sore in my life.

[Which was kind of all true, only it was taking all that effort to hold onto her shift right now. She hasn't been able to hold a particular face for very long, and when she finally let herself shift back to blue she actually felt a little sore. All very, very weird.]

How strange. Have you spoken to the medical personnel about it? Or what passes for it here, anyway.

Aside from being turned human, I have noticed an odd decrease in my abilities. Even without my inhibitor rings on [he lifts his hand to show the gold bracelet around his wrist] it seems as though I have less power than I did previously.

Yes! Less power, that's exactly it. I guess I'm just starting to get worried I'll never be back at full strength, is all.

That is something to be worrying about. Perhaps in due time we'll get our full strength back.

I used to be a hedgehog.

I seem to have lost a bit of my timekeeping and orientation abilities, on top of turning human.

I imagine being turned human after living as something else would be disorienting, yeah. Have you been adjusting alright?

Oh, it wasn't the most difficult thing.

I'm not sure whether this would prove reassuring or even more worrying, but you certainly aren't alone. I've been suffering similar limitations, so to speak, and I know of others who have too.

[ He raises a brow, smiling wryly. ]

Mind you, there are also robots who have turned into humans, so limitations to particular abilities we may possess hardly seem like much in comparison.

It's a tiny bit reassuring, but only because maybe we'll be able to figure out what's causing it if more people are facing the same issues.

[And no, she doesn't know how to just admit that changing her shape, turning into someone different, is exactly the limitation she's facing, so the fact that others... have without wanting to... It's confusing!]

And I just heard about that. I can't imagine what that must feel like.

One has to wonder if these things are perhaps connected. After all, we are facing things that are undoubtedly changes from what we find natural... [ A thoughtful pause. ] Running cheetah fast, however, that's really quite a talent.

I hope they are connected, that way we can all figure out a way to fix it. [ohgod, don't look at her like you know something, that makes her think you know something. which makes her nervous.]

Genetics. I don't know the details of it, not really, but it's the result of a genetic mutation.

Okay, I half expected this since some captives have been changed from their normal forms to something else, usually humans. This is not good, errughh. Okay.

I haven't noticed anything missing, though I was never capable of anything spectacular... Were you born with your ability?

Mhm, it's a genetic enhancement. Took a few years to manifest, but it's in my blood.
