[ you know what this network needs, denizens of the uss creepy spaceship? 100% more hipsters.

LUCKILY, chapel is here to provide. everyone please mock his cardigan—or listen to what he's got to say. either/or, really. ]

Hey, fellow space kidnappees. If anybody else is interested, I've been organizing all the scientific books I can find—well, I say book; they're more like little holographic USB sticks—and putting them in one place. A lot of 'em are pretty kiddie, but there are some college-level textbooks scattered around, too. Nobody's going to be teaching themselves doctorate-level physics off this library or anything, but there's enough here to kinda get caught up on hundreds of years of scientific development.

There's really only one rule: if you take something, bring it back—and when you bring it back, put it back where you got it. I'm not actually a librarian, and I really don't wanna have to organize all this more than once.

And I think when you close the books, they default to opening on the page they were open to last rather than at the beginning, so be kind and rewind. That's more of a guideline than an actual rule, but you should really do it anyway.

Anyway, that's about it. It's in the 25th floor rec room, right off the green lift. Can't miss it.

[ ooc: also open to action tags/moving into a log if people want. :|b

UPDATE 5/11: tags will probably be a little slow and/or nonexistent until monday. sorry, guys. :c ]

The scientific development you're referring to here, is it applicable to all the different worlds or realities that passengers come from? Is there any information pertaining to the Tranquility itself and whatever place it's from as well?

Intriguing. I'll likely pay a visit to check them out.
But are we even certain that this ship's actually traveling through space?
I've heard that the initial crew's disappeared, save for the captain and commander. Other than their word, and not to say that they're necessarily dubious or otherwise untrustworthy, is there anything else we can actually go by?

[ WELL Raven has zero interest in science, that's Charles' thing, but she is interested in people that are interested in it. Especially after that last jump. ]

This is going to sound silly, but. Is there anything about the gravity couches in those? Like maybe some kinda clues as to how we can make the jumps less ..gross? I would be useless in actually trying to help with this, but I thought I would bring it up. Maybe if any of you science whizzes get bored, you can invent a new jump process.

[ maybe one with less goo left in their ears after. :D! big smiles! ]

I couldn't tell you about the math. If the computers were up, our jobs would be much easier. [ no way in hell is she trying to figure that shit out longhand. ]

I can't explain most of the things that have happened on this ship. You're not the only one looking for answers. When I find them, I'll tell you.

Many of the ship's books aren't located on portable drives. That might be your problem.

I might be an engineer, but monitoring the jump drive wasn't in my primary job description. It utilizes the kind of physics that we had actual physicists onboard for. [ sorry. but not really. ]

Along with the blueprints and other buried data.

It is when there's a jump drive involved. [ don't think she can't hear your sass, even if it is text. she knows the basic theory, but that's what it is: b a s i c . slow your roll. ]

No, I mean buried. Once it becomes absolutely clear the data was deleted off of this ship's systems, I'll agree, but I don't think it's gone. I just think it's beyond our current reach.

[ Jaye's not exactly good at physics -- as far as she's concerned the extent of her knowledge is something like "gravity exists" and "gods break the laws of physics on a daily basis anyway". She's not much of a student, either -- but Scott always was, and if he's around, she can't imagine he wouldn't look at the rec room on the 25th floor.

So she heads for it, fluttering out of the lift as a blue jay and heading for the nearest perch, looking around with little bobs of her head. ]

[ Luckily -- maybe -- for Chapel, this animal does know exactly what he's saying to her. It's why she chirps in response, wings fluttering once before she glances around again. One little bird leg has some black markings (006 >> 138), but at the current distance, it should be difficult for anyone with normal eyesight to make out the numbers or anything other than a mess of black.

Of course, Jaye's not planning on staying at her current perch. There's no sign of her brother, so she flutters over to some of those "little holographic USB sticks". There's a moment of more headbobbing before one is plucked in between her beak and she's back in the air. ]

[Yulia bless.]

Finally, someone's made themself useful. Well done!

[Here comes the tricky part; sacrificing his abundant pride as an engineer in order to understand the workings of the world sans fonons. It doesn't matter how prodigious he once was if it all works differently on a fundamental level.]

I don't suppose there's any basic information about electricity and the like?

I'm, ah, feeling generous, and thought I'd look over it to ensure its accuracy.

Can I loan Chemistry?
