[ Well hello, network. Here, have the dulcet tones of a woman who is both livid and mildly terrified at the idea of being taken away from her newly assigned starship and crew, as well as being stripped of her hard-earned Starfleet uniform and forced to wear a jumpsuit that might possibly be worse than the ones used for the Kobayashi Maru test. After her arrival, Uhura basically just showered, got dressed, and pretended not to be sick until she found her room and composed herself enough to record this message. It's the first time she's spoken since she got dumped onto the floor in a pile of goo. ]
This is Lt. Uhura of the USS Enterprise, and I would like to formally request a direct conversation with whomever is in charge of this operation. I would at the very least like to be given a reasonable explanation for this kidnapping, as well as the whereabouts and status of my fellow crew members, and-- and my uniform, I would like my uniform back now, please.
[ DAMMIT. ]
Thank you.

shut up.
SHUT UP.
this is not real life.
Jim's voice clicks on and he sounds positively excited in the face of her irritation.]
Uhura?
voice;
[ Mark this as the first day in the history of ever that Nyota Uhura was genuinely relieved to hear Jim Kirk's voice.
Even if it's grating on her right now that he seems fine. Not just fine; ]
Why do you sound happy? [ CAUSE SHE SOUNDS LIKE SHE'S MAD AT YOU FOR IT. you know you missed this. ] What's going on?
voice;
You have no idea how good it is to hear your voice.
[get a hold of yourself Kirk, he laughs again and takes a breath.]
If your uniform wasn't in your locker then it's not on board. Welcome to the Tranquility, lieutenant.
voice;
either way, her tone takes on something akin to "you sound like a crazy person" with a side note of "even more than you usually do".]
The Tranquility? That- [thinky] -isn't a Federation ship, is it. So why are you welcoming me? [ Somehow said so that the emphasis is on both 'you' and 'welcoming'. Uhura's confused. ]

but she has barely begun to speak when recognition slams through his senses, and spock replies without hesitation. ]
Nyota.

[ Her resolve doesn't snap, there's no rush of emotion that comes with hearing him say her name, but she's smiling when she switches the transmission over to video, eyes bright. If Spock is here, it means she isn't lost. That's reassuring enough, for now. ]
How are you?
[ So she'll be casual, sensible. She has no doubt he'll tell her all she needs to know, when she needs to know it. For now, she's more interested in knowing he's alright. ]

[ the word comes out almost impulsively- if spock were capable of such a thing. (he is, even if he experiences a constant need to overcome) and in the aftermath, hearing the almost stony quality of his own voice, he amends it. his gaze has not yet ceased it's efforts to rake over her features. ]
Conflicted.
I did not locate you in the gravitational chamber.
[ you surprised him. as you so frequently manage to do. ]

stumblingfinding her way to the showers and cleaning herself up is that she didn't know any of the people on board with her. sure, it's impossible to know every single member of the Enterprise crew, but she spent enough time in the underbelly of the ship to remember at least some of the faces, and none of these matched. so she panicked. which is so unlike a Starfleet officer - they've been trained for situations like this - but the idea of being here alone sent her searching for some privacy, a chance to compose herself.and now she's here. ]
My time in the chambers was brief; I just needed some space to assess the situation before contacting anyone.
[ I'm sorry. but she hadn't known he as here with her, so she knew she had no real reason to be sorry beyond feeling a little guilty for making him feel conflicted. if that was what he meant. there could be a number of things he was conflicted about. but that makes her wonder; ]
Were you looking for me?
[ she knows by now that he's been here before, brought here before her, but the question really isn't that serious. to be honest, learning that the crew members that share the bridge of the Enterprise were here has made her feel much lighter than a moment before. ]

You haven't been kidnapped, lieutenant.[ text ]
[ she almost wants to add something along the lines of 'maybe abducted would have been the better term used', but she'll keep that to herself. professionalism, ooo. ]
With whom am I speaking? I understand now that this is an open network of communication, though I'm not sure yet how to identify the recipient of my transmissions.
[ text ]
Commander Resnik.[ she isn't exactly a fan of swinging that title around, but it is what it is. ]
I see Kirk's already provided you with some answers, but if you have any more, I'll answer them as best I can.[ text ]
I understand there are crew positions that need to be filled - is there any need for a communications officer on board? I have some training in engineering as well, though it's minimal at best, I must admit. I am willing to work where you need me, commander.

Uhura's very glad that she's still off-camera when she sees the young girl's image appear on the the screen, because right now she's. kind of just gaping at the communicator. however, she's quick to recover, and the video flicks on soon after. ]
That's a personal query for someone you've never met before, don't you think?
What's your name?

Spock and I are close colleagues, first and foremost.

This is Lieutenant Sulu. I'm taking a lift up.
voice;
[ really, god. she's more attached to her crew members than she even realized just a few hours before; hearing voices she recognizes is making her feel much, much better about this. ]
voice;
[ sulu knows that feel, uhura. ]

[Bones has always approved of Uhurah's spunk, so she gets a little bitty smile instead of a grumpy scowl. The kidnappers seem to have been nicer to him, however -- he at least is in uniform.]
You all right, Lieutenant?
voice;
[ More familiar voices, so yes, she really is feeling better~ Granted, she hasn't tried standing up since she found her quarters and promptly flopped down face-first on her bed, but she's sure she'll be fine when she needs to get up again. ]
voice;
[Because if anyone can do it, he's pretty sure it's Uhura. Or she'll at least make them wish they'd answered her questions.]
