 [ if anyone is paying attention, alaric happens to be in the oxygen garden, but unlike some people he's not even remotely smoking a single thing, instead he appears to have a bag of some plant (that to some might look like pot, but to those from his canon it's rather obvious that it's vervain). he rubs at his chin thoughtfully for a moment before he says anything. ]

This is actually the first time I've been on this part of the ship and I've been here since the first jump. It's probably because I never felt like planting anything, but now I actually feel like I should. It'll make the plants a bit more varied, I suppose. I have to ask though, has anyone else thought to plant anything?

Or am I just going to be the guy who plants something and if something manages to go wrong with the oxygen, I'm going to be blamed? [ a beat. ] For the record, I'm pretty sure it would be fine regardless, but preemptive asking and warning people never killed anyone.

Remember when I said we needed more vervain? Apparently there was a lot more in my locker after the latest jump. Enough to plant some and maybe make it so Katherine is a bit out of luck.

Can I blame you regardless? [ Harmless it may be, and Erik's own disinterest in visiting the oxygen garden aside, it needs to be said. ]

[ and suddenly ric is already regretting mentioning that. ] That probably depends on what goes wrong. If it's something that has to do with the mechanical systems of the ship, no, you can't.

If suddenly the plants become sentient or something close-then you can. But again, pretty sure that won't happen. Creepy ship aside, I haven't seen anything pointing to anything like that happening.

That's a shame. [ And he really is quite put off by the lack of finger pointing going on there, especially with that seemingly familiar plant - weed, was it? - last he saw. ]

Ship aside, why would your plant become sentient in the first place?

That you don't get to blame me? I can definitely see how that's a shame. [ look, erik, he's not a snitch. if you want someone to spill the metaphorical beans about anything, it's best not to go for the guy who keeps secrets about vampires. ]

Magic. [ he's half serious about that, because honestly, he's not too sure if any of bonnie's spells could have done that. ] Other than that, unless we're going in the genetically engineered plants that have brains direction, there's no real reason it would.

Wasn't aware you were so keen on gardening.

[ booooooooooooy you'd better be glad she's not that good at hacking. ]

I wouldn't say I'm keen on it. You can't fault a guy wanting to plant some things though. Makes life a little more normal between creepy doors and the like.

[ he's so very glad, katherine, you have no idea. ]

[ a beat. ] So, what's your preference? Flowers? Cooking herbs? Medicines?

You certainly get your hands dirty enough.

[ well look at badass we got over here. except not, because screw you katherine. ] Flowers. [ a beat. ] I'm too used to buying herbs from a store and unlike some people, I haven't had to use wild medicines that often. You have a preference. Or I suppose I have to ask if you would.

You'll have to be careful if you plan on planting something in there. One wrong plant and it could take over the entire garden. [ He pauses for a moment and then shrugs. ] Or so I was told.

Who gave you that warning? Poison Ivy? [ okay no that was a horrible joke. ] Unless it's a weed, I think the rest of the plants should be safe.

[ Yeah, it really was. In fact, it's so terrible that Mason's not even going to acknowledge it. ] I'm just telling you what I was told, Alaric. You wanna plant it and risk it, be my guest.

[ like you could have made a better one, mason. don't even lie. you're just jealous that ric had the balls to say it. ] Warning noted. [ a beat. ] You're worried about what it is, aren't you?

[ dear crane: this is a secret operation, you don't get the real answer. ]

A plant from home. I originally came with some the first jump and figured now was a good a time as any to finally get on planting it. [ beat. ] Why do you want to know?

I study the mind. My previous job left me no stranger to psycho-pharmaceutical therapy.

You mean you're a psychologist. That's the simpler way of saying, you know. It's also less confusing in the long run. Especially when I think you just implied that this was weed.

The other choice is LSD and while I'm not too sure of the origins of that, pretty sure it's not planted.

Among the plants, maybe, they're plants and they're about as predictable as nothing when it comes to growing right.

Why is that the part that just about everyone is focusing on?

'cause I don't know what the rules down there are so I can't answer that part, but I know it's pretty easy to kill a plant. The other people are probably the same.

It's not the only thing that was in there, by the way, just I thought the thing would make you the most happy. It made me practically whoop for joy when saw it and all.

[ Charles looks a bit curious, as if he's trying to peer around the man in the video and actually catch sight of the garden, ]

What are you planning on planting?

video; oh there's no such thing as late when i'm late in answering all these tags~

[ Ric just looks at Charles for a moment before he answers. To be honest, he'd willingly show off the gardens but he ask first. ]

A plant from home. Typically it doesn't grow exponentially unless it's in the wild. I'm hoping the soil will be fine for it. You garden?

Hardly, but I know a bit about botany as it relates to genetics. Mostly I'm curious as of this point; I was going to offer up a bit of knowledge on what might happen were it to be planted if, of course, I knew what the plant was. [ A half smile, still a bit lost in thought. ]

Though gardening is not more forte.
