Right, yes, hello.

I've been hearing a lot of talk on the network regarding those who have recently been altered to human bodies.

[ His lips pinch a little - to be honest, John is still having a hard time believing this is all real. ]

This is a real issue, especially concerning robotic, um, persons. I understand that those of you who have been affected are pushing for getting your original bodies back, but until that's possible, if that's possible, you need to be able to take care of the one you're currently inhabiting.

My name is John Watson - I'm a medical doctor with twenty years of experience. I'm offering my help to anyone who needs help getting accustomed to their new bodies. Again, I think this is especially important to those who formally had no need to eat or sleep, and may or may not be aware of the particulars of human hygiene or diet.

[ Some humans are this way, too, to be fair. Looking at you, Sherlock. ]

Since this is a personal issue, I'm open to making an individual appointment to see you. You can come see me at my flat or I can come to whatever venue you're comfortable with. Just please contact me and we can figure something out together.

[ He cuts the feed and leans back in his chair to wait and see if good sense overcomes pride. ]

[ Oh, well, you can definitely see his arms crossing. Spock, you don't know what sort of stubbornness you're in for when you toggle that particular button. ]

I believe the implication was clear.

Implication is an unwise foundation upon which to rely. Especially given the present circumstances.

I thought you seemed a sharp enough bloke to pick up on it. [ Curl of a smile, almost a smirk. ]

Spock, I am in the kitchen on the first dock of passenger quarters.

[ a momentary pause. sharp? for what reason would he be considered- oh. wait. this is probably one of those human speech things. an expression that makes no sense whatsoever. OKAY. MOVING ON. ]

Understood.

I shall reach your coordinates in 2.55 minutes.

[ Human and English. Be prepared. ]

I'm timing you, Spock.

Would you like something to eat?

[ oh god. there can never be enough preparation. especially if adorably old man jumpers are involved.

spock on the other hand, is in fact running. not that you would know it, since he doesn't seem to breathe. ]

I do not require sustenance at this time.
Are you presently in the company of a patient?

[ His jumper came along with him, actually, though he's wearing the jumpsuit for now.

John can't tell yet, though he'd be amused to know the other was actually legging it to get to him. And just a bit guilty. He didn't mean for that - he'd been teasing, honest! ]

No, but I soon will be. I'm expecting someone.

(( Oh god, do you want to treat Spock to Wheatley's neurotic episodes? ))

[ there's no need to feel guilty. he's just being ~~spock~~efficient. there is, however, the faintest sound of his boots on a few panels of flooring as he makes his way through the corridors. ]

Then in the interest of confidentiality I will excuse myself when said patient arrives.

I agree that there needs to be confidentiality, but what are you planning to do? Stand outside?

[ He can hear the faint sounds, but it'll take him a minute to discern them. He takes a mild sip of his tea. ]

It's alright with me. Just seems like it'd be too far for you to do much if something happened.

[ He doesn't know why he's doing this, because he can take care of himself. Maybe he's curious. ]

What are your qualifications, anyway?

[ the reply comes from the doorway. that place where he's currently towering without actually attempting to tower. his hands rest comfortably behind his back, and the entirety of his appearance looks meticulously- precise. ]

I do not believe you would be familiar with the federation to which I am currently in service.

[ Spock is tall and John is average, toeing short, but he's sort of accustomed to that. He rises from his chair when the other enters, moving to walk the distance between them.

What is going on with the other's hair? Beatles fan? But then, of course, the ears. This man... Alright, actually, he's wondering if this is some sort of elf. Fair skin, pointy ears, tall. First robots and science fiction, now mystical fantasy was real too? Good lord.

He's going to hold a hand out anyway, and hope Spock knows what it means. ]

What sort of service did you provide?

[ oh that. his gaze falls immediately, heavily, to the extended hand. it isn't the first time he's seen this gesture. certainly with less frequency among members of starfleet- but the vast majority of individuals aboard the tranquility are unfamiliar with vulcans. let alone their cultural...

because he's the pinnacle of manners, spock ignores it. ]

Starfleet is a peacekeeping, humanitarian organization for the express purpose of promoting intergalactic exploration, understanding, and unity. An armada, I believe, is the most appropriate term.

[ Well, alright, then. Watson gets the message, and he'll drop his hand, giving the other a once-over with his eyes instead. A space-elf. ]

Sounds like a large organization.

So what did you, Spock, specifically do in it? Everyone's got their role in an armada.

[ if it were possible for spock to have a minute tell to show his approval, he would. as it stands, he only walks further into the room and stands stoically before the doctor. his posture, if nothing else, betrays military training. ]

I am first officer aboard the starship Enterprise. My specialty lies in sciences. [ his gaze does, however, linger on john too long for it to be anything other than an assessment. ]

You have combat experience.

[ John nods, thoughtful. The other certainly looks disciplined, though he seems young. The doctor's arms cross as the other approaches. ]

What makes you say that?

[ It's neither a confirmation nor a denial. He's also armed, Spock. The weapon isn't readily apparent, but it may be clear by the way he's holding himself. He didn't actually come to these appointments unprepared. ]

The physical subtleties with which you carry yourself allude to practice within a significantly structured environment, presumably militant in nature. '

[ his head inclines fractionally. this is sort of meant to be a compliment john. he's bad at this social thing. ]

Further, you conduct yourself in a professional and practiced manner- a trait that even amongst physicians, in not a commonality. A, I believe the term is bedside manner- is to be expected, as is the capacity for procedural thought in otherwise stress inducing situations.

Your behavior however, is unique.

[ Spock has an acumen that is cold and reminiscent of mechanics, but John can't help noticing the subtle grace of his motions. In this, he is very strongly reminded of Sherlock, and briefly wonders what the consulting detective is getting up to while he is here, trying to affirm that he is a caring individual with medical skills to share.

John is not nearly as subtle as Sherlock, but it's still going to be enough that this interaction is going to prove difficult for Spock until the doctor realizes that he needs to be more blunt. He can read into the other's words, though, and realize he's being paid a compliment, especially when the other comments upon his professionalism. To hear him fumble to express himself in terms to which he believes John will understand hints that he might be somewhat awkward, either with relating to others or terms of things he has not personally experienced; perhaps both.

John's expression remains reserved, but politely attentive throughout the Vulcan's explanation. He's about to speak when the other mentions his attitude, which prompts his curiosity. The corner of the older man's lips quirks his expression into a wry smile. ]

Is it?

[ He's inviting Spock to explain, of course, but he hasn't yet realized that it would be kind of him to be more blunt. ]

[ it has not occurred to him that his stance is unusual- perhaps due as much to starfleet's regulation and practical experience as it is due to social standards of vulcan.

of vulcan that was.

however the man may come across, ultimately, it is clear that his intention is anything but hostile, and a far cry from accusatory. spock has allowed his attentions to wander as he spoke, and from his somewhat less direct position- turned at an angle towards the doctor himself, his chin lifts. his brow soon follows suit. ]

You do not perceive differences between yourself and fellow physicians?
