[ When her video feed clicks on, Raven looks like this. Same as always, physically, except this time maybe a little more nervous than usual. Not in a bad way, just a little bit fidgety and not looking right at the camera like she tends to do. That would be because she plans on finally letting this ship know that she's a mutant. Big news! She's never actually gone public with this, in an sense of the word, but it feels right to now. And not just because both Erik and Alex now have called her out on it. ]

Hey.

[ Here's a small wave at the camera, quickly followed by a nose scrunch and a short laugh. God, nerves are the worst. She takes a breath, rolls her shoulders back. ]

So, for anyone that doesn't know me, my name is Raven. I've been on the ship for- [.......thinky..] -well, since the first jump, and, not that it's a big, dark thing or anything, but, I have a secret. And recently it's been bugging me a lot that I haven't really told anyone outside of just a couple of people, because it's nothing that I'm ashamed of, it's just something I'm not used to being entirely open about. Back home it's not really ..normal, so I always had to be careful about who I told. But things are different here.

-- And this is starting to sound really cryptic, so, I'm just going to say it.

[ As she continues talking, Raven starts to shift. She's not wearing any clothes, but the camera view is only from the shoulders up, so.]

I'm a mutant. Human, technically, I'm from Earth and I'm built the same in most ways, only genetically I'm much different. The same kind of mutation as Magneto, um, kind of. Not really, though? We're both mutants, but we do very different things. I don't know all the technical terms, evolution and genomes and stuff, but that's why I can shapeshift. And this is my true form.

[She holds the back of her hand up close to the camera for a moment, letting her scales show more clearly before resting it back in her lap.]

I've walked around here like this before, but only because the ship messes with my abilities a bit after each jump, and it's hard getting back enough control to change my appearance. Umm. The blonde girl isn't a real person, not really. She's the face I've been wearing for years now, kind of a patchwork of different features I picked out when I was a kid. And I haven't ever used my abilities to impersonate someone here, and I never will unless the person knows and there's a very good reason for it. Because when I shift I completely change, in every way. Voice, finger prints. It all changes.

So. Yeah! That wasn't so bad, right? [ She's blushing now, but it's hard to tell. ] Um. If anyone has any questions about what I can do, you can just ask, I don't mind. [ In other words; please, please don't be scared of me now that you know. ]

It's a good form. My wife can do the same thing, you know-- though I'll admit your change is interesting; it's more a morph than a shift like yours is.

Really? Does she look like me, too? I mean, when she's not ..morphing. [That's a groovy word. Now she's just trying to picture what it would look like to morph instead of shift, like she does. Just a smooth change? Far out.]

I just wouldn't.

[Mildly defensive, but, then she's holding up her arm, and her tattoo reads upside down and backwards because of the angle, but it doesn't matter; when she lets her arm flutter from a different skin color, then back to blue, there's one obvious sign.]

Plus, this doesn't change no matter what form I'm in. If you really believe I would try to impersonate someone, that's likely your best bet in telling the difference.

[Sitting in the brig, with his communicator taken away-- nobody's put together that the watch has been wired into the communication systems. Oh, he can't do anything but recieve and post - his ability to scramble communications wildly has long since been severed-- but he can see this...]

[And he's not sure if he should be insulted or cranky. She's blue! She's human-- ish, like that Erik fellow -- but she hid all this time! How-- rude! He can't do that.]

[Still, it keeps him engaged while he's sitting in the brig.]

[This is terribly cool. Really terribly cool, which is high praise, as there's very little even in superhuman abilities that might intrigue a self-assured (read: cocky) young wizard of certain gifts and intelligencies.

Which is to say that Sirius stares at the video for a moment before electing to reply, without actually having processed much of that mutant business (what little was said of it).]

It's better than "not bad", actually, it's brilliant. You're blue! Can you really do anyone?

As long as I have a visual of who I'll be turning into, yes. And the voice as well; my mutation doesn't let me copy a voice unless I've heard it myself, but. Yeah, I can ..do anyone, sure.

[She's grinning a bit, still on video. She never would have imagined someone calling her 'brilliant' while she was like this. It's a bit surreal!]

[ dundee is no stranger to shifters, after all, the order has one or two that he can name right off the bat, but this girl has an original form of someone blue. he supposes it makes her blessing a gift and a curse, though truthfully, she does seem rather attractive either way. it makes him wonder something though, and after weighing the pros and cons for several minutes he finally decides to ask what he's rather dreadfully curious about. ]

Can you do select parts? Not that the complete shift in and of itself isn't incredibly interesting, because truly it is, but I'm curious as to the amount of control you have over the changes.

Yes? Usually I can. You mean, can I shift into ..you, say, but give you brown eyes? Or different ears? Yes. Here it's a little tricky, effort wise. I mean, back home I could shift seamlessly, with only a little focus during the initial change, here I have to think about it a lot more, and I need to focus on it too.

[rambleramblerambleramble. she cuts herself off with a hum, shuts her eyes, and after a moment she reveals emerald green irises in place of her yellow ones, bright enough to show as a clear difference on the screen.]

Technically? I don't. [She'll even twist her back a bit so she can see for herself.] I never tried to shift wings, though. Might be possible...

Well, if I'm trying to shift into an actual existing person, yes. I can try and shift based on a description, but there's really no way to copy someone's appearance accurately unless I know what they look like first hand.

[ Charles watches in silence, and his reaction is effectively smothered-- something that takes quite a bit of focus. Resisting the urge to snap at her-- to demand she turn the feed off because doesn't she know how much danger she could be putting herself in? Of course she knows-- she has to know. She's been here longer than Charles by far; but it still makes him visibly uncomfortable. Raven... He knows he can easily make things more difficult by telling her what to do, by trying to keep her hidden like he had before. Instead all he an offer a small sad smile. ]

I suppose this means you've got the best choice in clothing out of all of us. [ A weak attempt at humor, but he's worried and doing his best not to express it. ]

[Raven knows that look, of course she does after all these years, but she's pointedly not acknowledging it. She's been here for too long without supervision to seek it out now, and it's a strange feeling, but not an altogether bad one.]

I do feel a little bad about that, actually. As if I need anymore reason to stand out from everyone else.
