[The video starts with a blurred shot of a corridor ceiling, dark, though there's light coming from somewhere nearby. There's a moment of the device being fumbled before it swings down, revealing a very tired and scared looking woman. Her voice reflects much the same, strained with desperation, wavering.]

Hello? Hello? I think -- god, I hope -- this thing is some kind of phone.

If there's anyone there, anyone can hear me, please help. I don't know where I am. There was a voice, I followed it, but -- I guess I wasn't listening. [She drops to a whisper, berating.] Typical, Amanda.

[Quiet for a moment, frowning, but then she takes a breath. Gathering herself again, trying to sound certain, give a clear and steady summary of her situation.]

I'm lost. Everything looks the same, I feel like I've been walking for days-- [She's going off on a trail again. She stops herself.] Jesus.

[There's nothing more to say, is there? She lets her head fall back against the wall behind her, lifting a hand to press against her forehead, like she's trying not to cry.]

Is there anyone there? Please?


[ooc: another OC for the demon plot here, pulling her favourite demon damsel in distress routine to get all the altruistic and heroic types to come out of the woodwork. She has a taste for anger and wrath, and vengeance is her favourite. There's a brief blurb on her profile, for more information.]

I can't say I know the ship all that well but perhaps I'll be able to be of some assistance regardless. [ A pause, ] Do you have any idea what floor you stepped off on at the very least?

[A look of absolute relief floods onto her face, and she pulls the device closer, but then she actually seems to listen to what he's said.]

Floor? There are different floors? [Of course there would be, with the need for an elevator in the first place, but clearly she had just been that confused. That self-berating look comes back onto her face. She shakes her head.] No-- no, I've got no idea.

I would assume, yes, seeing as there's multiple lifts. [ He pushes a hand through his hair, debating for a moment on how he would find her if she had no idea where she is. ]

Do you see anything identifiable? Or perhaps know your way back to the lift--?

[So she's got herself lost and left with no way for anyone to find her. She shakes her head again, gradually falling back into looking as defeated as before.]

I tried that. I couldn't find it again. It all looks the same. It's enough-- [She stops, gives a pained looking smile.] It's enough to drive someone mad.

The voice is rather... persistently annoying. Fortunately you're not alone.

[She gives a laugh that's a mix between relief and weariness.]

I'd be happy to hear it again right about now. I'm really glad to hear that, though.

[ And there's a small, tiny smile. Is Crane..enjoying himself? ]

[She smiles back, but it's brief, and very tired looking.]

I'd rather find the company though. No more misery, thanks.

[It's a damsel in distress who needs an altruistic and heroic type to come to her rescue! However could he resist?]

Geez, I know, it's easy to get lost here. Do you know anything about where you are? I'll see if I can come find you.

[She pulls the device closer, looking relieved at the prospect of help - and then worried again at not being able to answer him. She shakes her head.]

I tried keeping track, but everything looks the same. [She rubs a hand over her forehead again.] I've probably been walking in circles.

Gotcha. Relax! Just wait where you are and I'll see if I can come find you.

[animosities]

Okay. [She nods, but doesn't sound convinced.] I'm not planning on going anywhere.

[But that sounds ungrateful, and she winces a little.] Thanks. Thank you, I mean.

This place is like a maze.

[he'd offer his assistance, but he's noted someone's jumped to that gun already.]

[She gives a weak sounding laugh.]

Thanks, captain obvious.

[There's no real bite to it, just tiredness, resignation.]

Kirk, actually, but that works too. [grin, he can do distractions.]

Amanda.

[She smiles back, but it's small, weak looking.]

Got anything more helpful than the obvious, Kirk?

There are many here. Take a deep breath, and gather yourself.

[animosities]

[She takes a deep breath, as instructed. Lets it out, takes another, seeming to calm a little.]

Sorry, sorry. [She shakes her head, presses a hand to her forehead again.] I'm a mess.

[jilt]

It's understandable. But you'd do better to save the hysterics until you've gotten somewhere safe.

[voice]

Freaking out isn't going to get you anywhere, you need to just stop and think here, okay?

[ She doesn't mean to sound harsh, because clearly she is willing to help. But everyone is going to be quick to jump to her aid, might as well get her to relax, right? ]

I know, I know. [Maybe a touch defensive. She lets out a breath.]

I'm usually better than this, I swear. Just never... [She lifts a hand, gesturing at the corridor around her.] Spaceship.

[astrogate]

[ She can get the defensive, so she isn't about to care there. ]

I admit it can do things to you. Just try not to let the fear overtake you, or you will never get anything done.

[ A beat and she is adding: ] Where you from?

[ video ] [ let's pretend Hotspur replied to this quicker IC than I did OOC yep ]

[zooms]

[ There's an expression of acute alarm on his face as Hotspur thumbs the reply function on his comms device; he's been hard at work in the shuttle deck as evidenced by the traces of engine oil that have been picked up along his limbs and his face but other than that he's the picture of a heroic would-be rescuer. ]

Amanda, is it? Don't worry. You'll be all right.

[ Well. Actually, no, nobody on this ship is guaranteed to be 'all right' - least of all when they're alone and scared and lost in some Gods-forsaken corridor on board this terrifying leviathan. Still, that's not for her to know - not right now. ]

Do you see any elevators nearby?

[ video ] [ always bb ]

[She looks slightly surprised to hear her name for a moment, but then seems to remember she'd said it herself.]

Amanda, yeah. That's me.

[Hearing it - plus his reassurance she would be all right - does seem to calm her a little, but she still shakes her head at his question.]

None that work. I've looked-- been looking for the one I got out of.

[ video ]

[zooms]

Right... [ Her tone of voice, her expression - they get to Hotspur, triggering some not-so-deeply-hidden quality in him to rescue and protect the helpless. He nods decisively and forcibly shifts his expression from one of worry to optimistic reassurance. ]

Don't panic. I'll find you.

[ Hotspur's on the move, setting aside his tools and making a line across the shuttle deck towards the purple elevator on the far side. ]

Amanda, keep moving. [ He's never been brilliant at giving orders - it's one of the qualities that has kept him at a lieutenant's rank even in his thirties - but for the sake of giving the lost woman something to do he tries his best. ] Keep looking for deck numbers or anything on the walls.
