[The video starts with a blurred shot of a corridor ceiling, dark, though there's light coming from somewhere nearby. There's a moment of the device being fumbled before it swings down, revealing a very tired and scared looking woman. Her voice reflects much the same, strained with desperation, wavering.]

Hello? Hello? I think -- god, I hope -- this thing is some kind of phone.

If there's anyone there, anyone can hear me, please help. I don't know where I am. There was a voice, I followed it, but -- I guess I wasn't listening. [She drops to a whisper, berating.] Typical, Amanda.

[Quiet for a moment, frowning, but then she takes a breath. Gathering herself again, trying to sound certain, give a clear and steady summary of her situation.]

I'm lost. Everything looks the same, I feel like I've been walking for days-- [She's going off on a trail again. She stops herself.] Jesus.

[There's nothing more to say, is there? She lets her head fall back against the wall behind her, lifting a hand to press against her forehead, like she's trying not to cry.]

Is there anyone there? Please?

[ooc: another OC for the demon plot here, pulling her favourite ~~demon~~ damsel in distress routine to get all the altruistic and heroic types to come out of the woodwork. Oh-- [ And he is exactly the type to try and help, because that's what Charles occupies his time with; an obnoxiously persistent form of optimism. ]

I can't say I know the ship all that well but perhaps I'll be able to be of some assistance regardless. [ A pause, ] Do you have any idea what floor you stepped off on at the very least?

The voice is rather... persistently annoying. Fortunately you're not alone.

[It's a damsel in distress who needs an altruistic and heroic type to come to her rescue! However could he resist?]

Geez, I know, it's easy to get lost here. Do you know anything about where you are? I'll see if I can come find you.

[A look of absolute relief floods onto her face, and she pulls the device closer, but then she actually seems to listen to what he's said.]

Floor? There are different floors? [Of course there would be, with the need for an elevator in the first place, but clearly she had just been that confused. That self-berating look comes back onto her face. She shakes her head.] No-- no, I've got no idea.

[She gives a laugh that's a mix between relief and weariness.]

I'd be happy to hear it again right about now. I'm really glad to hear that, though.

[She pulls the device closer, looking relieved at the prospect of help - and then worried again at not being able to answer him. She shakes her head.]

I tried keeping track, but everything looks the same. [She rubs a hand over her forehead again.] I've probably been walking in circles.

Gotcha. Relax! Just wait where you are and I'll see if I can come find you.

Okay. [She nods, but doesn't sound convinced.] I'm not planning on going anywhere.

[But that sounds ungrateful, and she winces a little.] Thanks. Thank you, I mean.

This place is like a maze.

[he'd offer his assistance, but he's noted someone's jumped to that gun already.]

I would assume, yes, seeing as there's multiple lifts. [ He pushes a hand through his hair, debating for a moment on how he would find her if she had no idea where she is. ]

Do you see anything identifiable? Or perhaps know your way back to the lift--?

[So she's got herself lost and left with no way for anyone to find her. She shakes her head again, gradually falling back into looking as defeated as before.]

I tried that. I couldn't find it again. It all looks the same. It's enough-- [She stops, gives a pained looking smile.] It's enough to drive someone mad.

[She gives a weak sounding laugh.]

Thanks, captain obvious.

[There's no real bite to it, just tiredness, resignation.]

There are many here. Take a deep breath, and gather yourself.

[ And there's a small, tiny smile. Is Crane..enjoying himself? ]

Freaking out isn't going to get you anywhere, you need to just stop and think here, okay?

[ She doesn't mean to sound harsh, because clearly she is willing to help. But everyone is going to be quick to jump to her aid, might as well get her to relax, right? ]

[She takes a deep breath, as instructed. Lets it out, takes another, seeming to calm a little.]

Sorry, sorry. [She shakes her head, presses a hand to her forehead again.] I'm a mess.

I know, I know. [Maybe a touch defensive. She lets out a breath.]

I'm usually better than this, I swear. Just never... [She lifts a hand, gesturing at the corridor around her.] Spaceship.

[She smiles back, but it's brief, and very tired looking.]

I'd rather find the company though. No more misery, thanks.

It's understandable. But you'd do better to save the hysterics until you've gotten somewhere safe.

If I haven't got myself lost beyond saving, you mean.

[And all of this makes sense to him: of course a damsel in distress would be unconvinced about his ability to find someone in a giant ship. (Heck, he was kind of unconvinced.) So he ramped up the sheer confidence up to 11.] I know, but trust me, everything'll be fine! If I don't find you, somebody else will pretty soon.

Sorry. [She nods, trying for a smile.] I guess wandering around this place sucked up all my optimism.

It does that to a lot of people. The food's not that great either.

[Right, as this is video, description time: the scene's clearly moving as he's heading down in some 'let's explore the ship ~~and probably get lost resulting in the damsel in distress being found by someone else, stupid overly large ship that looks all of the same~~' direction. The camera is turned outwards, pointing towards the hallways which look...rather repetitive, man, would it have killed the makers to have at least made the corridors different? This is for a number of reasons. Main one is that it's really hard to chat on a videophone while moving, and shots of a corridor beats shots of a pocket. Also because he's not paying too much attention to the phone specifically at the moment.

Go figure.]

I've been here for a few months and I've kind of gotten used to it, but I still get lost all the time.

[She watches the video, even if the motion of him moving makes it a little queasy to watch. But she might recognise something in the maze, let him know if he's close (she knows exactly where she is, and doesn't really want to be waiting forever).]
