001 ♕ Video ⊗ "The Best thing for being sad is to learn something."
[ The feed begins with a tired but kindly looking countenance splayed across Charles' features. The faintest crook at the corner of his mouth and the lift of one inquisitive brow. It's taken him a bit to learn to make a broadcast of his own, but fortunately he's adept enough to make a quick study. He addresses those whom might, or might not be viewing, directly. ]
Hello, Charles Xavier-- I've just arrived, amongst a few others I assume, and have two requests:
First, I've been alerted to the basic information of my situation and that of this ship, as it were; though I find it a bit... lacking. If anyone can provide me with more information I would be grateful. I've discovered a few things in a simple assessment of what I've seen thus far through these telecommunication based devices-- and of course in simple observance of the parts of the ship I've seen-- however nothing near a proper assessment of the current status of the ship and those aboard it.
Secondly, I've a request of a more personal nature-- more akin to a favor if you will--. As it stands my mobility is a bit challenged with the chair I've been provided; and it's inclined to make a horrid squeaking noise. [ He winces a bit at the recollection. ] Which, even on it's own, is quite impressive and entirely irritating. Essentially, I need a grease or lubricant of some sort. I've not got much to offer in return, unless you're fond of a glass of scotch.
[ He folds his hands at his waist leaning back a bit, ] Anyhow, excuse the intrusion, thank you for the moment of your time.

I didn't think--
video;
Why are you in a chair?
video;
Where are you?
video;
You were there Raven I-- [ He staggers for a moment with his words because this is hardly something she'd forget; which makes the situation far more complex than he had first assumed. ]
I'm in my room-- ah, [ A bit of hand-waved directions here, ] I fear something might be terribly amiss.

I think I would be able to get you something for the chair.

I would be quite in your debt if you could.
video;
Oh, I wouldn't expect anything in return. You need help and I am willing to do what I can.

Perhaps if it has to be done, but for now I'm not sure that's entirely wise. [ A beat, ] But thank you Alex.

Haven't seen Sean or Hank. [ He pauses for a second, glancing around. ] You think they made it, or... [ There are a million other 'or's there and none of them seem very good to Alex right now. ]

—a chair, you say?
video;
My legs don't work properly, it helps me get around.
video;
A wheeled chair, is it not? Forgive me, please, I am only newly acquainted with such things. Though necessity has required that I become familiar and quick.

Since I can offer assistance through prosthetics or robotic mechanisms.
If you're willing to pursue either of those options,
I could offer more than simple lubricants for the wheels on your chair.
Sup.

I don't think a prosthetic would work properly, as I've got very little movement below the point of fracture. It's kind of you to offer, however. [ Sixties tech is not entirely advanced and the best they could offer him was entirely unable to give him any more mobility than a wheelchair. ]
Sup? What is a sup?

Have you met anyone on board who's from the same place you're from?
At this point, you've likely observed that there's an assortment of passengers from different places and times.
Seems like many of us have come from different worlds or universes
With varying degrees of technological advancement.
Therefore, in the event you undergo medical assessment
And are cleared for prosthetics or robotic implements, my offer still stands.
"Sup" is an abbreviated way of saying "What's up?" or "How is it going?" or "How do you do?"
It's commonly used to open or segue into conversation, but it can also be used as a greeting.
Sup, Charles Xavier.
Any specific way you'd prefer to be addressed?
By the way, my name is Dirk Strider.
I'm good with Strider, DStrider, Di-Stri, and so on,
Or we could keep it short and sweet with just Dirk.

In spite of that argument, if it could be called as such, Erik had walked away feeling far more defeated than he had on the shores of Cuba that day, when Charles had spoken words deliberately setting them apart, and even now he felt relegated to that role, a vulnerability Erik has never allowed himself. The helmet set apart in the privacy of his room, and he trusts Charles will at least respect that mentality they established months ago. That sort of vulnerability had never been allowed from him, exposed now and needless to say, it was the sort of thing he hadn't anticipated. ]
Information someone like you should have picked up instead of asking. [ Perhaps said a bit harshly given what they've been through together, but possession works in odd ways, feeding on the inner resentment that Erik harbored, tucking it away. To an extent, he simply expected Charles to have picked up on the information, though he'd never concede it willingly - until the words left his own lips. So much for tact, Erik, unfortunately it's not something he'll regain. ]
voice;
Besides, I see no real harm in asking; finding out what sort of people are here, how they communicate and things such as that.
voice;
Like you were ever one for asking, Charles. Always managed to get things your way, didn't you? [ Erik has every intention of pushing till Charles gets hurt, deliberately instigating comments he knows will have such an effect, anything to make his stay within Erik that much more secure, offer up that much more of a result for the other demons. ]

[video]
There are other wheeled chairs that might be used. We saw several waiting for someone to lay claim to them. [He hesitates, and adds:] Who provided the chair of your complaint?
video;
IF I can't fix it then I'll probably attempt to make my way back down to replace it; thank you for the information.
video;
[It's a small but rather important distinction, and Bran nods, confirming it to himself as fact even as he is half-asking the question. The nod, too, is toward the thanks.]
