[The voice that clicks on is smooth, deep, and there's a definite hint of an Irish accent in there.]

What happens to the people we've left behind? If anybody knows, I mean. If you don't, that's all right. You can just tell me what you think happens. Or, we could talk about the weather. [Pause.] Of which there is none of in space, making that a short conversation.

Maybe pick your own topic. I'd like to talk to just about anybody, at the moment. Get to know the other inmates, so to speak. I'm an excellent conversationalist, you'll find - possibly the best, but I'll give everyone a chance to prove me wrong there.

[Spoken with the amusement of a man who has had this sort of conversation far too many times to count,] I'm much more charming that ordinary folk.

Oh yeah? [ Her tone suggests she's heard this same argument time and time again. ] Why don't you prove it, then? Because anybody can talk a big game; there aren't as many people that can actually follow through.

How does one prove they're rightfully full of themselves on a spaceship, exactly?

I guess that depends on why you think you're so awesome.

Well, I'm charming. Nobody has ever denied that. [Yes they have.] And I have a very nice smile. [True.] As well as a nice car, a fashionable taste in clothing, an amazing sense of humor...

[Not to mention the magic part. But most of this is said in a joking manner - he doesn't really think he needs to explain himself.]

Generally, I'm an all-around nice fellow.

Hate to break it to you, buddy, but genuinely nice fellows aren't full of themselves. They're usually quiet, shy, or really awkward; they never brag about anything.

Ah. [Yeah, no.] In my line of work, those people usually end up being psychopaths.

Maybe we've been getting off on the wrong foot. I've been told I don't always make the best impressions. Shall we try a different approach?

...what approach do you want to try? And I swear to god, if you say anything that involves the words "meeting up for a drink" or "giving you the gift in my pants" or any other skeevy thing floating around in that head of yours, I will find you and kick your ass.

[He can't help but laugh at that, all good-natured and actually pleasant, instead of snarky like one would expect from someone with that sort of ego.]

I was going to say, "My name is Skulduggery, what's yours?" I haven't had skeevy thoughts for decades, don't worry.

Yeah, that's what they all say. [ Or... something. ] Is your name seriously Skulduggery or is that your handle?

My name is actually Skulduggery. Pleasant.

[ Weirdest fucking name ever, but okay. ] I'm October.

[He's heard WAY WEIRDER than October or Skulduggery, so he just sounds all pleasant and smooth and whatever.]

Excellent, it's a pleasure to speak with you, October. So, how are you enjoying being lost in space?

It's a fucking riot. [ It's actually not so bad, for the most part. At least she's alive here. ] It'd be really nice if whoever's driving this thing would park it somewhere with actual land and everything so we could get some fresh air, though.

Fresh air would be nice. Answers, of course, would be nicer.

Well, yeah, but I figured a vacation from our forced vacation might be a little more likely than answers.
