[ When the video clicks on, the Network is greeted with the face of a man in his late twenties — five o'clock shadow, hair mussed in a way to look absolutely careless, a bemused smirk on his face. When he tilts his head and realizes the device is recording, that smirk spreads to a smile that shows teeth, charming and beatific. For a guy who's just been through the ringer of a nasty space-time anomaly, he seems fairly good shape. Or maybe he's just good at taking things in stride. (Or maybe he just likes pain.)

Whatever the case maybe, when he tilts his head he lifts a hand and waves. A lazy, unaffected wriggle of his fingers before he puffs up his cheeks and gives a kind of blow-hard sigh. ]

So. Anybody out there feel like helping a guy out and cluing me in as to who exactly is in charge here? [ A simple enough question, punctuated by the exaggerated lift of his eyebrows. He moves to switch of the device and then thinks better of it, leaning back again to add: ] And if you're gonna say Ward, I'll stop you right there, cause I've already done some of my homework. [ A beat, a tiny shrug. As if to say well, kinda. ] I'm not looking for the guy whose on the nameplate of the bridge. I'm looking for whoever's actually in charge.

Good luck with that. [ A positive outlook hasn't exactly been at the top of Oxford's list of priorities recently, and his tone is so dry it'd put deserts to shame. ] From what I've seen - and heard - no one really knows the answer to that question, regardless of how long they've been here.

[ Simple and to the point, but somewhere in the hangar deck Hotspur is linefacing his hardest (which isn't all that linefacey, to be quite honest) at this broadcast. ]

[There's a very audible snort from a very amused Dean Winchester. Ward in charge? Yeah, not while he's not taking at least some responsibility for all the crap going on around here. That's how Dean sees it, anyway.]

I guess you earned a couple gold stars there for realizing Ward's as in charge of this goddamn ship as the Pope is. Congratulations.

[ Evander takes the answer in stride, tipping his head easily in silent concession. ] And, for hypothetical shits and giggles, who would you back?

[ No capitalization, double punctuation. He assumes it's a kid on the other end of the line, but Evander's response remains effortless. ] But who makes the final decision when there's a final decision to be made? You do have decisions to make, don't you?

I mean, I assume that's how things work here. [ A shrug. ] Correct me if I'm wrong.

Name's Evander. [ He smiles, briefly. ] I'm new. Obviously.

[ Hello there, little lady. Unlike so many of the other demons that are floating around the Tranquility, Vepar is old — old old — but that still doesn't mean the guy can readily spot another one of his kind over the devices. For now, she's just another pretty face.

Friendly, though. Vepar can work with friendly. ] Au naturale, all the way. [ His smile is beatific, unrepentant. ]

Kirk. Part of the welcoming committee, right? [ Evander scratches the back of his head, like he's considering something. ] Pretty sure I heard his name floated a couple of times, but wasn't sure if he was just popular, or The Guy, you know?

[ Hotspur's response is the only one that gets Evanders easy-going manner to flag, however briefly. The flicker of a frown, the suggestion of a guy who is a little more than just piss and wind, that disappears just as quickly behind the lifting of his eyebrows. ]

Aaaaand when's the last time you saw the good captain?

[ Evander tics a shoulder, smirks in a self-depreciating way. ] What can I say — it's a gift. One too many sessions of Blue's Clues as a kid can make a regular-day Sherlock out of a guy. Though— [ He tips his head. ] —you might want to clue in some of the other passengers. [ He's looking at you, Hotspur. ] Apparently the memo didn't make its way all around the office.

[ You might come off as dashing and roguish to the typical crowd, darling, but in Crowley's eyes, you are one ugly bastard. Still, he may or may not be glad to see you. ]

[ Oh, Kara, he likes you already. It's obvious from the look on his face, from the way he winks once at the camera and then shrugs. ]

[ Now there's a voice a demon could get used to. (At least, so long as it's on the top of the Heap, spelled capital H-E-L-L.) The recognition is no doubt obvious to Crowley, the way it sits in Evander's eyes. As is the fact that he's probably a little sick of having to play at being sociable already. ]

Can you really blame a guy for wanting to know the lay of the land? I did get employee of the month, once.

[ It's either that or Vepar, Reznik. And compared to Vepar, Evander's a stroll through a field complete with flowers and a meadow goat. ]

Oh, come on now. When are those two ever not exactly the same thing? I don't know what he's supposed to have done around here. It could well be just a case of folk tripping over their own asses to get to him because he's got a shiny smile and a good voice for radio, but let's be real - if everybody thinks you're the leader, you're the leader.

Ain't my job, detective. But I would pay good money to see you compare yourself to the real-life Sherlock right up in his face.
