Okay, so.... okay. We're obviously on a ship. In... space? With assigned numbers and communication devices. This would be a lot cooler if I knew the why and the how and the potential dangers. Mostly the why. Anybody get a 'why' yet? Not expecting something for nothing here, so...

I live in Gotham, and there's no such thing as a Batgirl.

[Artemis is well versed in the art of sarcasm, thank you. And there's a minute of Artemis kind of tilting her communicator to the side and peering at the Batarang before she just gives up.]

They ARE the real thing! How would you even know? Are you in cahoots with text-anon? The first one, not the kiddo one.

Something like that. Look, where I'm from, there's Batman and Robin and that's it. You have to see that that's hard to believe some stranger who comes along claiming differently so... loudly.

Okay, well where I'm from I've been doing this for years. MANY years. Risking my life to save others on a daily basis. So YOU have to see that it's seriously insulting when some kid suddenly says you don't exist!

... Oh god. It's finally happened. I know how the tooth fairy feels!

Putting myself out there without the mask isn't a risk I'm willing to take until I know the full story. Habit.

Okay, so there are like... a bajillion things that happened before I ever got to be Batgirl. Do you seriously want the ENTIRE thing? Or the short, really easy answer?

I'm good with the quick and dirty explanation, really. Anything else might just make me go nuts.

Too many bad guys, not enough B-man. I kind of got thrown into this job... via inherited promotion?

Wow I just don't even know how to begin to feel about that. Too many bad guys? How can there be too many bad guys when the Justice League exists?

Justice League has a lot of World to cover. Plus some universe.

We've got Gotham covered. It's a big city... lots of jerks. But you obviously already know that.

[And this is a person from the future, that hasn't escaped Artemis' notice. This person she's talking to has all the answers. If she wants to know, she might be able to ask and find out, what did Artemis Crock turn into? Was she evil in Batgirl's world? Did her dad lure her back into his life? It makes her kind of really uncomfortable, the idea that she could just know her destiny.]

So. If you know Robin do you know the rest of the team? In the future, I mean.

Uh, I know some of them? I mean, I know OF pretty much everyone, but I only know some of them personally.

... Are you trying to pump me for info about future stuff? Not gonna lie, I'm paranoid that some time-police are just gonna show up out of nowhere and jump me for messing up the past.

I don't really want to know anything that could cause a paradox or anything like that, no. Just general stuff. Do you know Superman? Is Poison Ivy still around? Anyone name Sportsmaster ring a bell?

[She is just so super subtle don't you think?]

Never actually met the guy, but I know Supergirl pretty well. CW has a handle on Ivy, last I heard. Who knows how long that'll last. And ... can't say I've heard of any Sportsmaster.

[This eyebrow is getting raised SO darn high] Friend of yours?

No, not really, I just know of them.

[That's good, at least. She won't have to deal with any of the things he's done, for now at least. AND SUBJECT CHANGE NOW.]

Anyway, what's it like, working so close with Batman?
