[ The first thing that can be seen when the feed clicks on is a shitload of green. Then Mason shifts the comm so it's focused on him. ] So, this oxygen garden. How's it work? Is there someone that takes care of it and decides who gets to plant what, or is it more a community free for all? [ He needs to try to plant some Wolfsbane because when it runs out, life is going to suck. Not only for him but for everyone on board. ] And if someone's in charge of it, could somebody tell me how to get a hold of them?

[ The fact that he calls it a potion causes Mason's eyebrow to lift slightly, but magic and witches exist back home for him, so it's not too weird. ]

What else do you put in it?

Knotgrass, ground bicorn horn, belladonna . . .

[He frowns and glances around.]

Though some of it is going to require substitutes. And yourself?

[ None of those even remotely ring a bell for him, but it's probably because -- ]

Just Wolfsbane. [ It's usually enough to at least sedate him a little, as long as he ingests it with plenty of time before the change happens. ] What do the others do?

[He shrugs.]

Help me keep my mind. I'm not precisely an expert at potions, I'm afraid, I simply know how to brew them.

[angerissues]

[ Mason watches him for a few moments and it's pretty clear he's trying to decide something. Is it worth it to tell this guy he's got Wolfsbane already dried and stashed away? A part of him says no - the more he keeps for himself, the better - but another part says that they really need to stick together. If for no other reason than to keep everyone here safe.

Including, but not limited to, Katherine and Jenna. ] You said something about substitutes; does that mean there's other stuff they have on board here that you can use to make a potion?

That's the hope, though I haven't found anything yet. My hope is to try and find something to at least weakly substitute the potion-- or, if not that, at least knock me out during the night.

[angerissues]

Just straight up knocking yourself out actually works for you? [ Mason's tried once and it didn't do shit other than make him pass out before the change. It didn't even help make it less painful. ]

Sometimes. It makes the wolf much more sluggish, at any rate, which was a blessing.

[angerissues]

Seriously? Because the only-- [ He pauses for a moment and somewhere, amidst all the questions he's dying to ask, Mason realizes: ] I don't think I caught your name. [ And even though he may not be the most gentlemanly guy out there, he does have some semblance of manners. Sometimes. ] I've just been prying instead; sorry about that.

[ Though he isn't really, truly sorry, not when if it means he knows someone else on the ship that's dealing with - and capable of creating potions for - what he's going through. The fact that this guy is so open about it makes him a little uneasy, though. ]

[He gives a little grin.]

I haven't been much better, to be fair. Remus Lupin. The only what?

[angerissues]

Mason. [ No last name for you just yet, Mr. Lupin. ] The only thing it's ever really done for me is just hurt. Which I guess counts as sluggish, but it's never actually knocked me out. [ Hence the chains. ;; ]

How much have you consumed?

[angerissues]

I don't know. I usually toss a twig or two, depending on the size, into a water bottle and let it sit for a couple hours. [ Even after all this time, a couple sips of that and his insides are on fire. ] How much do you usually take?

A glassful of the potion, but that's more than enough. Disgusting thing.

[He sucks in a breath.]

How have you found your moon cycles affected? Do they follow the ship's general pattern, or the one that occurred at your home?

[angerissues]

[ Mason's stomach churns a little at the mere idea of drinking an entire glassful. Usually he just manages a couple mouthfuls, if that, of the water bottle. ]

I think it's pretty impossible for it to follow the same pattern as home. [ Since, you know, there's no moon. He doesn't really want to admit, especially to a stranger (werewolf or not), that he hasn't figured out the pattern yet, though. That means he doesn't have any control over it, even if he does feel the pull a couple days before. ]

[He glances over at him.]

And what about here?

I've only been through one, about four weeks after I got here.

[theshabbiestofmen]

[He nods.]

Tell me next time you go through yours. I want to see if we're on the same schedule. My last transformation was two weeks ago.

[angerissues]

Long as you do the same. [ He leans a little closer for the next part. ] And do me a favor, Remus; keep this conversation between us. Alright?

[theshabbiestofmen]

[He nods.]

Of course.

[A beat. He holds out his hand to shake.]

I have to say, though, it's nice to meet a fellow werewolf on here.

[angerissues]

[ Mason shakes his hand and nods as well. ]

I was starting to think I was the only one. [ And considering the risk it poses, he wasn't overly surprised. ]

[theshabbiestofmen]

No. Not anymore, anyway. And who knows? Perhaps there's another who keeps it a secret.

[angerissues]

Yeah, maybe. [ Mason's definitely planning on keeping an eye - and his nose - out, just in case. ] Makes you wonder what whoever brought us here is thinking, you know?

[theshabbiestofmen]

Who'd do best on an enclosed, highly packed space?

[angerissues]

[ He chuckles. ] It's a shame there aren't people who're part sardines, if that's the case.
