☂ two ; video
[England clears his throat. This is his first video broadcast across the network, and he wants to avoid an embarrassing situation like his mistaking the text function for a telegram the first time.]
Right. Yes. This feels oddly informal but if that's what's done--
--I'll be brief and to the point: I've got two questions.
First, could anyone from Earth who's lived through the twentieth century tell me of its history? Ah, the version of Earth where the British Empire exists. I would like to know how the world changes in the next hundred years. It doesn't matter when or where you're from, I'm just very interested.
My second question is addressed to the users of magic on board the Tranquility. Sorcerers, witches, wizards, healers, mages; whatever you are, how does magic work in your world? What sort of spells do you use? Runes? Talismans? Perhaps a proxy via a familiar or even technology? I've been practicing magic for as long as I've been alive--that's over fifteen hundred years--but one can never learn too much.
--Ah, I'm rambling. Excuse me... [He straightens his shoulders, tilting his nose up to be as dignified as possible.]
At any rate, I've one more announcement: I'm willing to trade tealeaves for sewing supplies, or anything else. Especially alcohol.
[Arthur pauses, not sure how to end the feed, but he just decides on something simple.]
Thank you.
[*edit/ooc: I'm aware of what he's asking. Bring on the temporal spoilers.]

2. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It's in Scotland. Magic isn't dying at all, for us, but we've had to hide. Otherwise there are hurt feelings and witch burnings.
We do a bit of Ogam in Seventh Year, but not as much. Wizarding radio is a lot any other radio, I suppose, except the radios don't need electricity and the hosts talk about frogspawn a bit more.

2. Good Lord! If there were only a magical community like that in my world! Yes, hurt feelings, witch burnings, all those terrible things, have driven magic away. As well as the so-called Age of Reason. Far be it from me to stand in the way of progress, but humankind could do well to remember the things that can't always be explained by physical measurement.
I think I'd rather enjoy that sort of radio. What's your favourite spells and enchantments? You've already seen some of mine in the form of offensive fire and the transfiguration of objects, or parts of them, but I also take up gardening and use spells to protect the plants and help them grow. You may think it's rather silly but it's very relaxing. Then of course, although I am a gentleman I assure you, the tricks that were taught to me by fae in my childhood! Good days, those were.
Except for Rome, the vikings and the plague. I could've done without those.

We studied Herbology but I can't claim to have enjoyed it very much. My favourite classes were Defence Against the Dark Arts & Care of Magical Creatures. My father works for the Department for the Regulation & Control of Magical Creatures so I suppose I had a leg up.
I'm guessing your fae aren't like our fairies. They couldn't teach you anything but how to fix your hair & giggle.

I wouldn't call it omniscient because it isn't, but I do know and sense the magic and well-being of the land and people because they are what I am and it's in my nature.
I'm glad though, at least somewhere the world was kinder to magic than mine.
If you'd like we ought to have a chat about those classes. Hardly anyone believes magic exists anymore and it would be refreshing to converse on the subject without being seen a lunatic.

[ Now please excuse him while he high fives himself over his own werewolf joke. ]

Oh alright that sounds good to me.
[if only he knew how ridiculous you were, he'd... well he'd like you even more, Remus. jokes at one's own expense are his specialty]
