[ For perhaps the first time over the network, Elizabeth doesn't exactly look chipper. She's fidgeting, pulling at bits of her hair and moving as she talks. ]

Hello. I... I was hoping that I could ask you all your opinions, based on your own experiences. I realize that what I'm asking is situational and... well, really, private, but I really do need advice.

... When you have to kill, or... had to, before, what was it that allowed you to reason through it? Even if the act is for the greater good, it's still the taking of a life. Someone told me once that it was a necessity, though a terrible one, and I know now that he was right. Still, though, if it wasn't for survival-- for your own survival-- [ She pauses, reconsiders. ] If someone else was in danger--an innocent--is it any easier?

[ Clearly, she's never killed anyone before. Elizabeth chews on her lip, very much agitated. ]

Oh! This isn't about anyone on the ship, not at all. I'm only wondering for when I return to Columbia.

Well, she... she began a revolution in order to set right all the wrongs of our society-- where I live, not, ah... not across the entire world. Though, she's gotten a bit extreme and is killing innocents in the name of vengeance.

I don't know if I can.

[ Plain and simple. ]

But... I do have to try, I think. I couldn't live with myself if I stood by and let these things happen.

I think it may come to that, yes.

No, I mean... well, do you regret the killing? Do you ever wonder if there could have been another way, so no one would have had to die?

It's a very long story. The simple answer is that there isn't much time and I'm really the only one there.

[ Easier than explaining that her partner in crime can't fit into a ventilation shaft and that she can't just put all of her moral dilemma onto Booker, anyway. ]

I've never killed before, not... [ Not ever. She bites her lip. ] I travel with a man who fought in war and he understands a lot of things that I don't. But I can't let him do these things for me, not anymore.

Only, I'm not sure if I can capture her, or--... no. The authorities in Columbia would kill her straightaway, or worse. I don't want her dead, but if she's killing innocent people... children...

[ Elizabeth shakes her head. ]

I wish I could talk to her, but I'm afraid.

...Ah.

[Yeah, that person should probably go.]

Like, "your relative hurt me, so now I gotta kill you" or like killin' completely random people?

[ Allison grows quiet for a moment, contemplating. ] I don't really think there was any other way.

Then you just accept the fact that there are those who are beyond your help.

Unless you have some kind of mind control ability that can change the nature of other people, then go that route.

You can't be sure, until the moment's arrived.

[Even people who think they have no strength in them can gather enough up to knock an obstacle to the ground. It all depends. Loving people can be pushed to extraordinary limits.]

When it does, you will know for certain what you can and cannot do. But there's no shame in not being able to take a life, love. That takes far more strength.

Do you know why the're doing it? Trying to kill them I mean?

If I can give you some advice? Don't hesitate. That'll just cause you more trouble.

Exactly like that. [ She wrings her hands as much as possible whilest recording a video. ] The former, I mean.

I suppose. [ Still, she doesn't look reassured. ] Oh, I just feel so useless here. I didn't earlier, but I've been thinking about it, realizing that it very well may have gone on even while I'm here... wherever we are.

For revenge. For... reparations.

[ Elizabeth, in turn, is quiet. ]

I hope that I can have some of that same strength. If I go back, that is.

So... I should do what needs to be done and... if I regret it, then regret it later?

[ She smiles, albeit hesitantly. ]

I suppose you can't really regret something if you haven't done it, yet.

Who are you fighting for?

Sounds a bit far for revenge.

Do what you have to do unless you can find a better choice, I say. But I've never had to kill unless it was for survival so I can't offer the best advice. Sorry.

Huh... So not really as bad, but still pretty bad if those people're friends a' yours.

[Or just plain bad anyway because people are dying. Seriously, Firo.]

Still, I've never heard of a way to stop a vendetta besides killin' someone. People get really determined with that stuff, you know?

Well, [Fortescue cants her head to the side, thoughtful,] about that. I've spoken to one or two people who don't think time passes the same, back home. I suppose we can't be certain, but some people go back and forth from this ship to their world. And sometimes they don't remember this place.

It could be a dream, but I don't think it's all cut-and-dried. So who knows. You may yet return the same time you left. Stranger things happen here.

That's some kinda question, darlin'.

[Heavy stuff, for most people, and he looks thoughtful for a good moment or two before he says anything more.]

I've done a lot of things I ain't proud of, but yeah. It's always easier if you're doin' it to protect someone, or to protect yourself.

Something like that. I would say to try to not regret it at all. But honestly that'd probably make you into what you don't wanna be.
