Color me curious. Since we're such a diverse group of people - how many of you are from "Earth"? I don't care what version of it, I don't care what time you're from. Considering that we're all supposed to be from different galaxies and times, why is it your wonderful planet that gets picked on?

Not that I'm minding, there are so many people from my own galaxy that I'd hate to see again (though, if there's an old man called Ben Kenobi or Obi Wan still hiding out here, I still want my money), it's just odd that it's that galaxy that gets all the fun.

Or, you know, tell me where you're from. How are you? What's Earth like? Something - it's just bugging me.

The place I come from has mountains and fjords... those are narrow inlets from the sea. But other parts of the world have deserts or plains. I haven't seen them, but I've read about them.

What's it like where you come from?

Eh, it's fine. I didn't stay too long because I lived in the inner city when I was a kid.

You make a good point. Most everyone's human, too. Or at least looks it. I don't think I've met a single alien since coming aboard. You'd think outer space would be the time for it.

I am. And truthfully, I know not why it is my world which is best represented here. I have met only one who did not hail from it, and sadly, he has since perished.

To be blunt: I know no one who has seen the entirety of my world in my point in time, and thus cannot give you an accurate picture of it. Only the small country I am from and the continent beyond is known to me; and all is fraught with war and political strife, as one might expect. It is a beautiful place, but the people who live in it are like as not the same sort of ilk you might find in your own world, sir.

You would perhaps find the technology lacking. It is a far cry from anything upon this vessel.

I'm from a city called Paris on Earth. I don't know why whatever brings us here likes it so much but sometimes it feels like half the city is here.

It's a poor and hungry place to live if you aren't rich. But so many people are from the future and they say that gets better. That France becomes a republic.

Oh, Earth is wonderful. I haven't seen much of it, really, but Columbia is a beautiful place. And there are so many interesting people with stories to tell...

Are many here not from Earth? Before this ship, I had never met anyone who... well, lived in space.

Lots of people live in space. Depending on the person, planets are just hubs and stop overs before your next destination.

[Back home, inter-universe travel is an imprecise thing, and they tend to end up on other Earths more often than not. It raises a lot of strange questions about the multiverse at large. Fortescue chuckles.]

Then again, I don't really have any basis for comparison. I've never been anywhere else. Although I've traveled to a few versions, and can say that the Earth always has more than a few wars going on. But I'd like to think that that's not our hallmark.

Not me. I'm from a hole-in-the-void known as Thedas. We've nearly destroyed ourselves so many times that I'm not surprised if nobody's heard of it.

( and fails. ) But there's at least four others here from there. Now that you mention it, why is "Earth" so special? Its name is dirty.

I grew up in a space station orbiting the Earth called the Ark. The planet was uninhabitable because of nuclear war.

I went down there though, before I wound up here. It was beautiful.

Earth, I have hardly heard anything about it but I have heard of it before. I myself am from Arda though I have not seen a great deal of it. I have only ever resided in Doriath.
